Petition for Y'z Toolbar Skins

How many fine people here use Y'z toolbar? For those who don't know, it is a sweet little app that lets you skin the Explorer toolbar. WindowBlinds can't do it (yet.) Unfortunately, the author discontinued development on it a while ago, but it still does its job well. I would like to see a section for Y'z skins here on WC even though it is a bit 'old'. If we get enough happy faces here, maybe the Admins will take a look. What do you think, guys?

???
WindowBlinds skins everything. And I thought that the creator of Y'z toolbar asked people to stop using it for legal reasons.

Y'z Toolbar and Y'z Dock are two completely different programs...for the record.

You can get Y'z Toolbar skins at DesignTechnika. http://www.designtechnika.com/main/modules.php?modid=1&action=cat&id=8

Ah... sorry, my bad.

Yeah...I mean Y'z toolbar. Not the dock. You can change the little icons in Explorer, like Back, Forward and Home? I use ObjectDock and WB, and they can't skin this. Goodmorphing, I did not know that. Where did you see it?

Oh yes...DesignTechnika is where I got what I'm using now, but there certainly aren't a lot and I know WC could do it well...Oh, I don't know. Just a though.

If they ain't gonna add a Rainlender section...why would they add a Y'z Toolbar section?

actually didn't the author of YzDock delete all his code and remove if from all sites he had authorized to release it and then posted requests for anyone running it to remove and delete it because of that junk with (sn)Apple?

just wondering

Hmm...silly me. Sir Hus, you have a good point. Personally, I must try Rainlendar myself. Maybe DA will do a Y'z section...

Really, IPlural? It was a download at DesignTechnika. I was referred there after seeing a screenshot of the app in use and asking what is was. Not sure how Y'z stuff could get messed with by Apple, though. I think there are Aqua icons bundled...is that it? Kinda sad reason, the author could have just taken them out.

WebBlinds skins IE's toolbar. There are few skins for it here, but not many.

WebBlinds skins IE's toolbar.

But it doesn't skin Explorer toolbars.............. YZ's does.

Yep, I've been using Y'z toolbar to skin the toolbar icons on IE and Explorer.

Quite cool, but there aren't a great many themes, and most of those are Mac related (not bad, but not a lot of real variety )

I've been playing with porting over some themes from Firebird, but haven't got very far yet(Y'z has more images than firebird, so creation of new images is involved). I'd also have to get permission, though some of the ones I'm working on are GPL'd.

I love it! I would love to see YZ's toolbar skins here.It also makes the nasty old throbber go away.

Or we could beg stardock to include this capability in IP or WB.

ohhhhh, cool

Have to take a look at it

thanky for the redirect!

Well, since Sir Hus is probably right about adding a Y'z skin section to WC, I guess we gotta beg Stardock to include it in WB. Apparently 4.2 is going to have the power to change the Move/Copy anims, maybe they can also expand this way. Y'z takes no CPU time and *GASP* uses...more memory than WB. But, if Mr. Banfield can write a program that skins the entire system using 2MB of RAM, this shouldn't be too hard. Is Y'z that big? Nooo...Koasati, you are a WC god, ask 'em for support. Throbber? Brainiac, if you mean those "pretty new Luna" icons that Gates cooked up, you are very accurate. Me head pounds just from using XP without OD. Oh wait, that's why I got it...Besides, even though Mac is a LUSER TEAM (you know this because OD does't run on it), they have good icons and I like the iPod. Cheers.

Xendre, perhaps not adding into WB...but re-release the pretty-much only failed program on ODNT...WebBlinds. Instead of making it skin IE...which WB does now...have it do other routine stuff...like a toolbar with hot-links to WC and a web search box with a pop-up stopper...and ofcourse...skinning IE buttons and throbbers. Release it as a part of ODNT or a WC Subscriber benefit...like that WC Tray. You also need not to worry about a section for it...there already is a WebBlinds section.

Just a thought...

Hmm...is this different than ObjectBar? I tried to find some screenshots on DesignTechnika , couldn't find 'em if they are though...

But I'm going on almost zero sleep, so....

It only changes the toolbar icons and removes the throbber.(that ugly little ms flag in the upper right.)click on my user name and zoom for a look
Reply #22 Top
Ah OK thanks....I've been using a reg tweak to turn the throbbers off for so long, I forgot they were there.

Right, Sir Hus, WebBlinds does seem like a "more appropriate" app to integrate this with. I bet it would indeed take off if it had a feature like that...

No offense but I really don't see a big need for SD to integrate those features into one of their applications. Pretty much every browser now except plain IE is coming out a pop-up stopper, you can search from the address bar, get a google bar (which also does pop-up stop), a yahoo, etc etc. I guess skinning IE buttons with WB would be cool, the browsers I use come with skins anyway...I dunno, so many other products to do these things.

stockholm syndrome, the only apprehension I have about a possible integration is that WebBlinds would be a bit too heavy, as in having too much unnecessary features. Frankly, I don't care about IE's toolbar, I use Mozilla Firebird. I just like the Explorer skinning. See, that is why it might be better to stick it in WB. Maybe that is why WebBlinds crashed and burned, because everyone just found a different browser that did it already without having to install something else. It's just that I use Explorer quite a lot, and I really DESPISE those ugly, horrid, "Bill Gates-style" icons. The guy should hire Jairo for Longhorn dev!
