I never used it, so I am not afraid for me. But some of the stories I heard about make me wonder. I hope they backed down on some of them. I haven't seen any follow-ups.

no. In fact if you go to download.com Kazaa is still the number 1 download.

A shame, and then people wonder why their computers don't work anymore.

I can't tell you how many computers I had to troubleshoot at the office. I look up in the registry and see Common Names, Gator, and all that crap. Don't blame it on the computer, it works fine, it's the crap you install that messes it up. Then I tell them not to install anything without checking with me first, or they'll have to pay from their own pocket the company time I take fixing their computer. That usually keeps them nice for a while.

Tech support doesn't want anyone to install anything and I can understand why. However, they know about my Stardock modifications and the understanding is if it breaks and I can't fix it, the first thing to go is Object Desktop.

So far, I haven't screwed up anything I can't fix on my own.

When P2P first started to get popular with Napster like 3 years ago, I had quite the library built up. I had close to 2,000 mp3's...ah but alas...nothing good can last forever. My PC died...lost it all...couldn't be bothered to get it back. I now buy the CD's I like...I have lost all patience with file sharing...the $16 on a CD is worth the convience to me now.

Actually, on the bottom bar of the kazaa window, it says how many users are online. A few months ago it was normally around 4million, last couple times I used it (couple weeks ago) it was about 1 million less.

Kazaa sucks, and so do all the people who use it.

Sometimes makes me wonder why I would share my skins with them.

anyway, kazaa is not (really) accepted in this community and you won't make yourself populair if you say you use it, its not my busines, so I don't even want to know.

/me wonders if ToolWraith would like it if I uploaded his wallpaper under my name, just the same as kazaa users do.

It would seem that Kazaa 'Is' accepted in this community...There are several Object Dock Kazaa Icons for download...

I noticed Jairo's Kazaa Icons have had well over 3,000 downloads...So I guess all those folks that downloaded and support Desktop enhancement suck

How true...The Kazaa software is so highly biased, and if you use it, you need to get a few air holes drilled in your skull, or maybe a knock on the door and a signed document...MUA HAH HAH! ...I know so many people who still do it (13-18 year olds, kids my age) who simply have no respect for anyone else's property. They think "Oh, I can get it for free, why not do it?" That is no reason to steal copyrighted content. I know there is a lot of blab about how using Kazaa is any different from shoplifting. Well, in a sense no, but it caught on so well because it is so darn easy. People like that. Unfortunately, everybody thinks Oh, there are 3 million users on, what are the odds that they're gonna find me? DO you really want to take that chance? 3 million people do, apparently...I have a good laugh every time I hear about some teen being forced to cough up a couple grand for something "they didn't know was wrong." Yeaaah...It doesn't take rocket science. Nothing at all is free, except skins on WC. Even here, respect is a necessity. The kind skinners who post here are not trying to make money, they simply want to share their talents. Of course, commercial music is different, but no matter what, you need to show respect for other people's work.

You know, you make a very strong point here. Still, when we dl music off Kazaa, we do not share it under OUR name, it is still, the artists work, and the artist still gets recognized, just no paid... However, I'm not like the other pirates out there, though, I only downloaded songs to listen to them a couple times. If i like 'em, I buy the album. If not, i delete them. However, I do dl music vids, which isn't really buyable all the time. Some artists sell DVDs with them, but not the rare vids, lik live shows that come on MTV.

Also, I'd like to add, that P2P file sharing has been BENEFICIAL to more than 70% of the artists out there. You see, a true artists dream is for their work to be seen or heard everywhere, and inspire people. Through programs like Kazaa, Artists were able to spread their music like wildfire around the world! It's just some other artists who have already made it to the top that hate P2P because they make big shows, which costs big money, which comes from the label, and thats why the RIAA is prosecuting, not individual artists. The record label cant get their spent money because of Pirates who don't buy cd's. >

Napster uploaded from the users, and shared froma central server... not the same with KaZaa...

Many people [try to] justify P2P usage by stating that the product is unavailable in any other manner....that's plain bunkum...if it's unavailable in any other [legal] manner doesn't legitimize subsequent 'theft'....it's simply cause and effect....ALL property theft is a matter of 'opportunity', not 'necessity'....

There is a very strong myth that the RIAA is persecuting children. Come on, get real. They are suing the parents, not the kids. And it's a parent's responsability to supervise what his kids do on the Internet. Parent who don't are irresponsible and deserve to get sued.
If a 12 year old got arrested for cracking into computers, or writting destructive viruses, who would go "The government is persecuting our poor children who don't know any better!" or "He didn't know it was wrong! He was just having fun!"

Come on. When a couple of parents gets sued because their child steals music, maybe other parents will start to educate their kids about what music theft is.

Jafo is right. And, ToolWraith, you have a point. P2P networking is a good way to get your music out in the world for absolutely nothing. However, all good things can be misused. Indeed, this had potential, but the majority of the Kazaa users tend to trade copyrighted files, not free music.

Only dumb uneducated people use Kazaa? And skinning labels you real educated? If you think so, you are highly mistaken. For the record, I don't use Kazaa. But what a crazy statement.
