If that fails, stop Fences from loading in the startup:

Reboot. 

Manually delete:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Fences

Reinstall.

Not sure what the version is suppose to be. I have installed beta 4 several times, the last using admin priv. After update my version says 3.9.8.54. It still show an update available.

A beta of a 4 release will have a high 3 number....so 3.9.8.54 is a beta of 4.  I'm not sure offhand if it's the most recent...;)

good afternoon I have installed from 0 the Fences 4 Beta 2 version. and I have done the steps in the topic even so this is what I get in TroubleshootingLog.

steam version 3.1.3.3 provides a lot of information and works perfectly

Upgraded to version 4 from 3.  All works ok except I've lost the "lock fences" option from the view menu.  This was working in version 3.  After reinstall several times I found that when I set "show labels" (in Customize your fences) to On Mouseover or Always the lock fences menu item returns.  If I set it to Never, I loose the  Lock Fences option.  

Translucent not working on multimonitor setups, my left main screen is fully transparent, my left got the translucent effect.

Now my monitors are sharing background and therefor it would look like one very wide one. They are also set as to move fluently from one onto another as one would expect.

This is driving me crazy, I do know I have an unusual monitor configuration (see below *), but holly cow...

half of the time the fences are bunched up over one another on my secondary monitor (left one).

Snapshot does show the correct layout , but as stated before, never works when trying to restore.

I tried all the options for screen resolution changes and none worked.

Now it started to delete icons from my fences...

Another problem I sometimes encounter (much less problematic), If I set up a fence to 2 x 4, it will sometimes change to 1.99 x 3.99 @ startup for no apparent reason, forcing the apparition of the scroll bar in the fence.

Also not a bug but a few missing features :

 - when putting a fence to the top of the screen, the fence name will automatically switch to the bottom of the fence. There should be an option to disable this.

 - auto arrange icon in the fence should be adjustable, like on/off, vertical or horizontal arranging first, etc...

 - For a beta app, you NEED to have a contact-us link or at the very least the forum link in the About section

* Monitor configuration :

2 monitors, 1 normal 1080p, an ultra-wide (5230 x 1440p) which is sometimes divided in 2 x 1440p monitor displaying 2 different sources

For me Fences 4 (latest beta, downloaded today) still suffers from the "Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed proberly." issue whenever explorer.exe is restarted. Explorer.exe loops approximately 3 times and then Fences is automatically disabled. As soon as explorer.exe has been loaded completely I can re-enable Fences without any issues. The same issue was already present with Fences 3.13. It first happened after I upgraded to Windows 11 (never happened on Windows 10).

Latest beta still faces the same issue, with translucent issues with multi monitor setup.

It would be nice if Fences would also save the setting to not be visible on startup after an update.

I believe there is a text scaling issue in the client. I run a 3440x1440 monitor and a 2560x1440 monitor, with the ultrawide being my main.

  When I open any of the Stardock software under Windows 11 , I am seeing that the fonts aren't rendering properly , or scaling properly maybe ? Other applications look as expected and scale as expected , and the effect is subtle. but it makes me wonder if the HDR issue and this issue are possibly related ?

If you remove all Fences folder portals from the desktop, does that still happen?

Fences 4 (latest beta) doesn't seem to remember the layout after a video drive update. I have dual screens, on a Dell Aurora R9 system with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER video card. Every time the driver updates, Fences will not restore a snapshot until a fresh snapshot is taken. Older snapshots no longer work. I noticed the same issue with Fences 3.
