Missing Dreams

Update problems

I recently updated to DeskScapes 11 and all of the Dreams which I bought and downloaded under earlier versions of DeskScapes are missing. “Red Giant”, “Parasite”, “Utopia Prime” and several others do not show up anywhere in “Favorites”, “Installed” or any other category.

Of particular concern is, “Vintage Dream” (I think by AzDude), a free Dreamscape which shows a colorful 1950’s style drive-in diner scene, it now is shown as a black screen in my Favorites folder.

“Vintage Dream” happens to be a dream which I use most and now its appearing only as a still image on my desktop. Is there a way I can get this dream working again and regain the other lost DreamScapes?

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Your Dreams should be here C:\Users\yourname\Documents\Stardock\Dreams

and maybe here paid dreams https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products/

check the WC tab...

unless you deleted the dreams from those areas ..

Vintage is a Stardock Design dream.

Maybe C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Stardock\Dreams

If you've moved them and forgotten, an Explorer search of *.Dream should find them for you.

Thanks so much AzDude, the "missing" Dreams were located under the WC tab in the link you provided. However, I still can't find the dream titled "Vintage", which was a free DreamScape featuring a very colorful 1950's style diner scene, this Dream was not among those found under the WC tab in My Account. Any assistance with finding it will be appreciated. - Gene

Thank you DaveRI! I was able to find all of the Dreams I purchased in the Stardock store under the WinCustomize tab in my account. However, I still can't find a previously downloaded dream titled "Vintage", which was a free DreamScape featuring a very colorful 1950's style diner scene, this Dream was not among those found under the WC tab in My Account.

If you think they are on your machine, I'd use the Explorer search I mentioned above.  Open up "This PC", click on the Local Disk (C:), then type in *.dream in the Search box in the upper right corner.  It'll probably take it a couple of minutes.  It will show you the path it finds any in.

If it doesn't find them on C:, go back to "This PC" and do the same for the next drive, and so on.  It should find them unless you had them stored in "My Documents" or similar under a different login on the machine.

You may need to tell DeskScapes what folder they are in after you find them.  Click on "Settings" in the lower left corner of DeskScapes, then "Settings" from the popup menu that appears, then the "Add" button in the popup window, and browse to the folder.

Thanks, I've tried all of those options, for some reason its not on my machine. I have the "Vintage" dream on another laptop, I'll make a copy and add it to this laptop.

If i remember right I think there was a problem with

that Vintage dream for some reason and it might not

be included in new downloads.

So good thing you have a another one to copy..

I had the same issue with Vintage, luckily, I keep copies in several places.

Good to know I'm not the only one and I'm glad you had other copies, I do too. Still, I'd like to know what went wrong and why its no longer available.

One possibility is that if you uninstall Deskscapes for any reason, the dreams that came exclusively with older versions of Deskscapes like the "Vintage Dream" got uninstalled too. "Vintage Dream" was never in the gallery here at WC for download, but was incuded in many of the older versions of Deskscapes.

I don't know why it was removed. It works fine, even on Win11.

Good to know. I still use W10 and mod it with Start 10 but I have a copy of "Vintage" Dream on another laptop, I copied it over to the laptop it was missing from and it works fine. JanOscar told me that "Vintage Dream" was never in the gallery here at WC for download, but was included in many of the older versions of DeskScapes. I'll make sure I keep a copy safe, just in case!

Might you have a copy of it? I installed the newest version and it wasn't there. I never backed it up :(

update: I downloaded a trial of an older version and saved it from there.
