DeskScapes 10 - using vertical oriented videos on vertical oriented monitor

Hi,

I'm trying to apply vertical looped video 1080x1920 to vertical oriented monitor but DeskScapes rotate the video to horizontal orientation.

How can I configure the Deskscapes to ignore the video orientation and display it as is in original version?

I am having the same issue, three years later, with DeskScapes 11. I cannot seem to find a solution for it. I take it this is a very low-priority issue?

Hello,

I tested on my system. Create a vertical video, apply to my vertical monitor. The vertical video appear correctly. Is it possible for you to send your vertical video so that I can test it on my system?

Tested and it look okay on my system. Refer video below. Note: in the video there is a car headlight move horizontally that might mistaken for firework.

Strange. No luck for me at all with that video, but here's what did work:

  • Examined the metadata to discover that internally the video is 1920x1080 with a rotation of 90 degrees
  • Transcoded the video to a resolution of 1080x1920 with rotation of 0 degrees
  • The transcoded video works correctly

The above makes me suspect that DeskScapes does not account for video rotation metadata when rendering.

This is my system setup, for reference:

  • Intel ARC A770 video
  • Left-hand monitor (main) resolution is 1920x1080 with no rotation
  • Right-hand monitor resolution is 1080x1920, rotated 90 degrees clockwise
  • Windows 11 Pro 24H2, build 26120.961
  • DeskScapes version 11.02

I hope this helps.

To be clear, if the video was made in the correct 1080x1920, than it display correctly on monitor which set to orientate to 1080x1920 vertically, yes?

That seems to be the case, yes, at least on my system. Why the original video appears to work for you is a mystery to me, unless it was automatically transcoded when you downloaded it.

Not sure if my system has option to auto transcode downloading video. I have forwarded this issue to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.
