Modem booster?

I have one that works. it is called DSL! J/K!

Let me look around a bit I might come up with something.

hahahaha..i want that sooo bad,but im leaving for iraq in less 6 months so im like bah...modem works fine for me i just would like a little more speed..not for my page loading but for my downloading.thanks kona0197 though

to tell you the truth im not sure..but most of them are from download.com..i dont think there really is one that works out there so im gonna have to settle with my 56gay

have you tried going to google and searching for a 56k booster?

yeah i tryed but i want one that looks trustworthy you know? all these sites i go to look cheap and have no technical support for them i dont care if i have to pay for it i just want to know that i can depend on the item.i just like to have something to fall back into instead of a problem

Actually, I don't need to know. First of all, if your ISP and telephone line aren't up to snuff, you could light a fire under your modem and it wouldn't do any good. 'Boosters' are pretty useless even under the best conditions, however you can make adjustments on your own to your settings and string commands to improve modem performance. Go to this http://modemfaq.home.att.net/faq_c.htm#Modem56K and it will give you a good handle on what you might be able to do. Navas was/is one of the best sources for modem info around (don't let the dates dissuade you. The info is as relevant now and as it was then). Leos, I'm stuck with dialup too........ connect at 28.8 when I'm lucky. It's because of the crummy phones lines out here, and nothing else is available to me other than sat (too expensive)...... Anyway, I've tried several modem boosters, and they are a waste of time................. Now I'm going to check out yrag's link. 

Randy- Didn't notice how many dead (of old age!) links there were on that link that I threw up (have trouble when I go past my bedtime). With a 28.8 that could be a real drag. Click on 'Navas Group' (if you didn't already) http://navasgrp.home.att.net/index.htm and you'll get more responsive results. There is good settings info on the site (good ole com port and string settings) with links to modem manufacturers for driver and firmware updates (although with all the buyouts even that requires a little drilling). For those who don't know what kind or make of modem they have, a good rule of thumb is if it's not a 3Com (USR) then it's a Rockwell chipset.....so follow the correct yellow brick road....

hi, i have used system mechanic from www.iola.com for 6 months and i am on dial-up and it has increased my modem speed 700%, but you have to use the manual configure under internet options in the system mechanic to get maximum speed.

Gary, I'm trying to find anything that might help on the Navas Group, but I get so sleepy wading through technical info. I also just realized, I have no idea how to "edit strings" ... but I'll go back from time to time, until I get a handle on it.

Look at Propel Accelerator (Propel.com). This is supposed to accelerate your surf speed by caching and compressing oft-viewed pages. I have heard good things, but I haven't used it myself, becuase I know that nothing and absolutely nothing will boost modem speeds significantly. If you like nitty-gritty stuff, check out TweakMASTER (Tweakmaster.com) or iSpeed (iSpeed.com). They help you fiddle with stuff like MTU, RWIN, and techy stuff that just might make speed go up slightly (certainly NOT 700% ) Hope I could help.

im using tweakmaster now i checked it out and found that it does speed up my web page loading but not my download speed...oh and since my other thread isnt being answered i guess ill ask it here if its ok...where can i get a complete download of mobydock? every time i download it,its missing .dll files..so i go online and download them but it gives me a kernel32.dllmessage that i cant fix so im like wtf??? so can someone please give me a link to a complet edownload...i tryed the main mobydock site and it didnt work
