Tray icons disappearing...

I would be very grateful if anyone could give me an advice on how to make some of my tray icons to reappear on boot-up. The programs I am refering to (a fan control program and a Speed switch program for laptops) are running in the background on every reboot, but their tray-icons, which are necessary to control the program, dissappear every time I reboot. I can shut of the programs with the ctrl-alt-delete-method and therby restarting them again, but it is frustrating to do this at every reboot. I can neither make the programs reappear by selecting them to always be visible on the properties menu on the activity field. I suspect a object desktop bug due to the fact that the problem started when i launched a new windows blind "theme". I have also tried to shutdown windowsBlind, Desktop X etc. and rebuilding the desktop, but it has been unfruiful. Can someone assist?

are you using either ObjectBar or DesktopX? if so, which versions?

failing this, are you using ObjectDock?

I am using desktopX version 1.99m(b)003. I am to my knowledge not using Object bar. And i am not using objectDock...Thank you for answering!!

the traditional answer is that trayserver isnt detecting the system tray icons. depending on how you have your desktop configured with DX, the simplest answer may be to leave the standard windows taskbar and system tray showing.

of course i am assuming that you have replaced the system tray with a DX system tray. if not, then we have a different and perhaps more interesting problem.

And it is being mentioned on the DX newsgroups that ppl are experiencing issues with missing trays or problems with some icons in the more recent builds. I have not experienced any such issues, but some have. So remember it is BETA software and there could be issues. If its important to you to have them there, I would recommend using DesktopX 1.3 until 2 becomes final.

The programs controlling the fan and the speedswitch functions in the Dell inspiron 8500, are as you pointed out, named differently. I8kFanGUI and SpeedswitchXP are their full names. You can read more about them on www.diefer.de
