Start 11 Windows 11 Start Menu Suggestions

So, i'm one of those people that actually really likes the native Windows 11 Start Menu, but it is not customizable enough for me. So I was very pleased to see that Start 11 now includes a Windows 11 like Start Menu..... I've played with it a few days, and have the following suggestions for the next version:

1) Allow the start menu to be resized. It seems a little large and clunky at the moment, especially on a 1080p screen. That may look really nice on a 4k screen, but it seems a bit too large for me.

2) Allow categories in the pinned section, such as "Office", "Games", "Photo Editing" etc, etc.... somewhat like the tiles in Windows 10 but with ye olde icons like the Windows 11 menu.

3) Allow the Windows native widgets on the Start 11 menu. I won't use a lot, but it is nice to see the weather.

You can resize the menu using mouse dragging on the sides.

If I try and resize the Win 11 style menu it crashes and has to reload explorer.

Like the original poster I was hoping to have the win 11 style but be able to pin tiles or larger icons to it.

Really hoping to get app groups as well as I really miss that.

I am loving the shortcut icons at the bottom though!

The resize issue should be resolved in the next update.

It will also allow larger icons in the next update.

Thanks @Neil

Will you be considering adding shortcut groups or win 10 style tiles to the Win11 style layouts
End of Red5ive_UK's quote

Both are on the list for consideration yes.

win 10 style tiles to the Win11 style layouts

For me personally I would prefer the grid tile from modern theme over win 10 style tiles in windows 11 theme. the grid tiles kind of have a matching look that is already present in windows 11 built in search which I find looks good.

Just updated to the new version and great to see resizing of the start menu works great and nice to see the options to resize the shortcut icons as well as a bonus!
Just need the ability to group icons like in Win 10 and this will be the best of both worlds for me.

As a Surface user I make use of the touchscreen a lot.

Can you make it so that you can swipe between the pages of the start menu rather than have to tap on the page indicators.

Currently if you try and swipe the menu you end up moving your shortcut icons around! Perhaps having the icons locked and allowing reordering on a tap and hold would stop accidental re-arrangement?

For mouse users a scroll of the mouse wheel could flip between the pages?

Namaste,

Can't stand the new, and completely useless taskbar and ridiculous start menu that comes with Win 11.. PFEW!!! TG for Start11 What we really need is a way to restore the classic taskbar and still keep the modern start menu still active in the background when we really need it.. Start11 is as vital as was Start10...  Please, I do hope you all can find a way to accomplish this so it no longer requires a break of the modern start menu causing the icon at the top of Start11 to do nothing...

Thank you Stardock, for saving my bacon and always making it sizzle - HAH!

Namaste,
