Graphics Freeze after new turn

Hey

I recently installed the game and started playing the tutorial. Each time, after I advance to the next turn after turn 5 - the game appears to freeze graphically only. The music continues, it makes the sounds as if I'm clicking on something, but nothing changes in the game. I've tried restarting, lowering graphics to the lowest settings and nothing fixes it.

I'm running an 11th gen i7 with Iris Xe graphics onboard and 16gb of ram, so the minimum specs should be more than met. my windows is up to date and my graphics card is too. Any suggestions?
