Ds9 is pretty cool, but we'll have to see how Enterprise goes... Every saturday morning, Space shows a rerun from Original, TNG, DS9 and Voyager. Its a great day!

How come no one themes in LCARS anymore? I personally like the look-no rude comments please,lol- I use an app called LCARS mail and
it is so cool! No really....it is.

If you like DS9 so much you should buy the seasons on DVD and then you can watch them whenever you want Only up to season 4 so far.
I've actually seen the LCARS mail program and tried it. It is pretty slick, but although I like Trek, I don't like using such a dark program to read text. Prefer grey or white background.

As far as LCARs related themes on here, there has been a dry spell. For DesktopX I'm sure one of the reasons is that they are waiting for it to reach official 2.0 status so they don't have to keep re-working a theme. But you are right, not much else Trek has come out. I still haven't found a WB skin that works for me done in the Trek style, nor cursors or Icon packages. Someday mabye.

Do you guys know a board game called "Star Fleet Battles"? That was a great simulation game of StarTrek ship fighting each other. It was played on a hex grid. Each ship was represented by counter. There was card for each ships to mark damage to the shields, hull, engines, bridge, emergency repair. There was also a form in which you plotted the speed, movement, etc. There were basic, advanced and optional rules. And of course various expansion kits. Learning rules looked like an academic study. I still have a lot of games like that. I am collector. Avalon Hill's Squad Leader, Rise and Decline of the Third Reich, Machiavelli, etc. But that's another topic.

DS9 was my least favorite of the Star Trek series. I much prefered Voyager, TNG and the original (in that order). I like Enterprise, but we'll have to see where they take the series...

Yes, I remember StarFleet battles. About 20 or so years ago, my friend, the war-gaming fanatic had it. I remember playing it a couple times. My eyes glazed over trying to understand the rules. IIRC about 5 or so years ago, a software game, modelled after StarFleet battles was released

As for Trek, I enjoyed the orginal series and TNG. I only saw parts of DS9, but being a huge Babylon5 fan, I look forward to watching DS9 in it's entiretiy, seeing as how thematically it has much in common with Babylon5

Voyager started out okay but went downhill rather quickly and turned into a tired version of TNG: too much use of the Plot Reset Button at the end of each episode and I grew tired of the that particular Trek's simplistic moralizing

Enterprise has been even worse, though the end of the 2nd season and the start of the 3rd season have been better and show some promise

I actually have many Star Trek PC games. I really liked DS9 'Harbinger'. I also hear that Star Trek 'Elite Force' is a good one.

There is also a DX Theme for Klingons that I thought had a lot of potential, but I think the artist gave up on it.

I do believe that one day we will travel the stars. If only we don't destroy ourselves and our planet before we develop our technology to that level. Remember, a little while ago, air flight was thought unimaginable and impossible. Now, we are flying through the skies at multiple times the speed of sound. The speed of light is next, and multiple times too. Warp 9? Hmm. Maybe.

all things considered DS9 was more popular and outlasted B5. IMHO

Actually the seeds of Babylon5 go back to the 80s. Oddly enough, JMS did pitch Babylon5 to Paramount back in late 89, which ultimately led to grumblings about DS9 being lifted from from Babylon 5, though I really doubt much of that. Eventually, the Babylon5 pilot aired in '92 IIRC, with the seriees eventually premiering in 93, the same year DS9 premeried.

DS9 did last longer than Bablyon5 but then from the outset, JMS structured Babylon5 much like a novel and was only meant to run 5 years, with a definite beginning, middle/climax, and epilogue/denouement. DS9 kept the tradition that TNG started of running for 7 years.

As for popularity, sure, DS9 was part of the ST family, though to be fair Babylon5 has its own impressive fanbase. I think DS9 didn't garner the popularity or acceptance that TNG did, which is too bad since DS9 was the one Trek that tried to do something different

I am still kinda mad about enterprise. It is set in the time before Kirk but Kirk didn't have half the technology that enterprise dose.

I just recently got the Elite Force II game and it is great! I think it would be cool to have a WinCustomize holomatch if anyone else plays the game. The skinners battle to end all battles.

I can't get Star Trek at all *sniff*

UPN wrote me back after I emailed them. They said they don't have enough episodes to run DS9 5 nights a week ( what BS) so they run it once a week at 1am on saturdays. >

Surely you're not serious?

I may be wrong about this, but I read somewhere that TNT (now Spike TV) would start airing DS9 in 2004 or 2005. I'm not sure what the rationale for such a late date is, unless it's syndication rights won't be up for grabs again until then, perhaps?
