Multiplayer crashing

Me and my brother have been having issues with multiplayer. We have played multiple sessions in huge galaxy map fine. Then one day it started crashing while I was loading into the lobby. It doesn't make a difference who hosts the game will always crash when one of us joins the lobby.

We tried going back to an older save that we had and it worked, after that session we saved it again and when we started it back up it crashed again in exactly the same way, no matter who hosts it always crashes while trying to load in.

The save works fine if I start it myself without anyone joining the lobby. Its only the one who tries to join that crashes.

We started a whole new game and once again after like 75 turns it just crashes when loading into the lobby!

Here is the entire debug file from entering the game to trying to join the lobby. At the end you can see where it goes wrong, How do I fix this?

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Whoever is getting the crash should be getting a pop-up for a submission.  Has that been happening - the popups and the submissions?

If so, private message me the email address(es) used for them - do not post them in a reply here.

In the message, include a link to this thread so I know what they are for.

Hello Isaac,

I have gathered the data from both of you and updated an internal ticket on it.

Internal Ref: GC3-575

At this time, it's in the hands of the devs.  I will update this when I know anything more.

Thanks for the feedback, data, and time.

Isaac, I am sorry for the delay.  As stated, there is currently an open ticket internally. At this time, there has been no activity on it but I will report here when there has been.

5 weeks waiting for at least some basic assistance!

They won't fix it. It has been like this for years, they release new DLCs, but multiplayer is a dumpsterfire. Today my friend and I "played" for about three hours, half of which was constantly rehosting and restarting the game because every second turn the game freezes on turn change or downright crashes to desktop.

Shame, because I love the game, I bought Gal Civ 4 on Epic the moment it was available, we both streamed in the first few days after the alpha was available, but if the final game is anywhere near this level of quality in terms of multiplayer, I'm gonna go ballistic.

What a disappointment.

Just a small update, I read somewhere that the Crusade DLC might be the reason for frequent freezes/disconnects. If you really want to play the game, maybe try disabling this DLC in your settings and see if it helps. Unfortunately, you will have to start a new game. My friend and I are going to try this soon. Also, my antivirus software blocked a file from GalCiv 3 folder once causing a crash, so you might want to add the game's folder to exceptions if you have similar software.

I can confirm that disabling Crusade seems to have solved the issue for us. We played 83 turns without a single crash, earlier the game used to freeze every 2-3 turns. Too bad this is the DLC that adds the most to the game. If you are considering playing without it, you have to start a new game, and be sure to change the game's speed to fastest, otherwise it will be veeery slow.

Without Crusade its almost not worth playing

Well, for me personally, the biggest downside of the lack of this DLC is no commanders. If you have the other DLCs, then the game's not that empty. Still, yeah, the fact that you have to disable the biggest expansion just to make it work is laughable.

While the delay can be frustrating (it is for me as well), to say that you have received no support in the 'slightest' is just not so. This thread, the things we have tried, is proof of that.

Again, I am sorry for the delay.

No actual help was provided from the support team. The only thing that happened is that one person replied with an observation that the issue happens with Crusade which without makes the game a lot worse. I have not seen anything that might help in fixing this issue for either the current game or to stop it from happening in the future that doesnt involve in me removing a good portion of the game contents.
