How To Handle Space Bugs

So you want to help us deal with space bugs huh? Well, there are plenty of them. Here we will give you some pointers on how to best help us.

Go to give feedback

  • You can also create your own unique threads and link them here. But include at least the basic details here!
  • Ensure the issue/feedback you are talking about is relevant to the VERSION NUMBER listed (See below for how)
  • Make sure all of your drivers are updated and verify the game files after every update before reporting an issue. This can often be the culprit.
  • If there is a bug that keeps repeating:
    • Include all steps you make to reproduce it.
    • Include any save games including auto saves.
    • Also please include debug.err files and pref.ini files as they can help with reproducing map generation or graphical errors.
    • When the crash dialogue appears ensure you put in an e-mail for our devs to follow up

How to tell which version you are on?

checked and the core world was in revolt, so this is not a bug. quelled the protests and was able to launch as expected

So far GalCiv IV sucks big time. There seems to be no way to control population. It just keeps growing and food goes negative until popularity hits zero. Population growth doesn't ever level off and I can't build colony ships fast enough to even put a dent in it. I think there is no such thing as game balance. I can't get a working civ off the ground because it's impossible to manager approval - there is no way to research improvements that I can tell and no tech tree. No way to increase food or stop  citizens from multiplying or a way to just kill off unwanted population. The game just doesn't seem to offer much. It's like a crippled version of GalCiv 3.

You seem to forget this game is missing many features and is in pre-release. You can increase food by researching food techs (farming a good one).  At this point I can offer the opinion that this game is FAR FAR better than Gal Civ 3. Its mechanix and game play are head and shoulders above 3. Are you playing the mimot or a regular paced race? Mimot grow far far faster than say Humans.

I agree there should be a way to 'dispose' of unwanted population but that is likely to come from new policy cards which will bend into what types of government you can have.

I work under the assumption that if I don't point out these issues I experienced they might not get fixed in the final release. As for food tech? I've already tried that. It fails for me because planetary improvement tiles which increase food production also increase the population cap. This could also be a potential bug in need of correction by I can't even begin to guess whether it's platform specific or not. I use a 7000 dollar gaming workstation - which according to Microsoft doesn't meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11. They just tried to prep my PC - a process which took 3 days and ultimately failed. I'm not about to spend 3 thousands dollars for a motherboard upgrade so I can run Widows 11. So I have no way of knowing what is causing my problems. Are they Microsoft? Or the game? Or some combination of both?
