Hi DeanosT.  I understand now, but am unable to follow, as nothing happens when I click on 'Configure Fences'.  I am unable to get to the Fences Settings menu.  Thank you AzDude, I will follow your link and hopefully that will resolve.  I will report back.

Hi Basj.  I followed the link and purged fences, then uninstalled and reinstalled using the latest download file.    It started installing and then came up with a warning message 'Break point has been reached'.  It then continued to install and asked me to reboot the system.  After reboot, Fences did not work although the settings menu did appear.  'Configure Fences' did not appear at the top of the right click menu on the desktop.  If I clicked on Fences in the application menu, a message came up to say that Fences was not loaded.  Both Fences settings are enabled in start up.  I purged, uninstalled and reinstalled again, but with the same result.

I have managed to get back to Fences partially working as originally described, by using System Restore Point.

Any thoughts please?

Not sure have you tried Cleanboot? If not please try. : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#cleanboot

Hi Basj.  Have set up a new administrator local account and install failed with same results.  Then did a clean boot using the admin account and still failed.  In each case I did a purge and reinstall.   Not sure what to do next, other than continue with the partial fences I have or to do a clean install of windows 11.  I do not really want to do the latter because there will be so much software to install.

Not really sure what to do next. Might be, something went wrong while you upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Option you have is to reinstall fresh Windows 11. And restart all over. What you can do is to backup all your layout snapshot : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#backupsnapshots. Fresh install Windows 11. Install all your software again in the same location (directory wise) you have previous installation of Windows 10. And than, install Fences and restore your layout snapshot.

Thank you,

Hey All,

So also to note on win11 pro;

I noted a conflict issue with the new taskbar and fences; I was simply moving some icons on the action bar within the taskbar and everything locked up; after minimising the active windows I noted fences had completely locked up and dumped the icons onto the desktop; It did fix itself after about 2mins but not sure what caused it;

Overall I did not some odd things happening so I can only assume the live build has some new windows layout systems that are causing conflict with fences;

I mean its "working" but not a smooth experience;  I'm sure this will be fixed as time goes on once more people adopt win11

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Could you post a video on this issue while you moving icons your action bar.

Thanks

I have now had to do a clean install of windows 11, and after installing Fences 3 it seems to be working as it should.  Thank you for your help

So if I use any Widgets (like BeWidgets), Fences just crash and won't load.

Is that the only app that seems to be causing your issue?

Hi, were you able to solve this from your end?  I'm having the same issue (Win 11 Pro 22000.438, Fences 3.1.3.3), and most of the time I cannot run anything as Windows Explorer keeps resetting, so I always have to restart, or restore my backup image.  After restoring my backup image recently, I was able to disable Fences and Windows seems to be fine again.  Perhaps some incompatibility issue has been found/addressed already?  Thanks.
