GalCiv IV launched from epic won't load

error pop-up "problem with accessing user data folder"

Hi, i encountered the following situation. Installed galciv IV on my main computer (obtained through epic). Computer i4700K, 32 GB RAM, nVidia RTX2060, Win 10 and running under administrator account. The game installs, verifies and states launch. When I launch it the screen loading appears and immediately a pop-up appears stating that "there is a problem with accessing the user data folder". On a notebook the instalations runs OK and loads OK. How to correct this situation? Where should be a user data folder? Can somebody help please.

If I remember right You need to add GCIV to background apps and let it do it's thing.

Moved to correct forum.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Another program might be interfering with the game accessing that folder. I suggest whitelisting it with any anti-virus installed.

Thank you for your patience and patronage.

Hi thanks for the suggestions. I found late in the night a hint in galciv3 FAQ about a similar situation and the suggested solutions was "Error: Could not create your Galactic Civilizations Ill user data folder.

On Windows 10, go to your 'Windows Defender Settings' --> 'Virus and threat protection --> Ransomware protection --> Turn off 'Controlled folder access'.

This worked for me, the game loads now without problems.
