Can't restore multiplayer game

I've started several multiiplayer games with my friend but we can never finish them because they won't restore after a while. Whenever he tries to connect, his game just crashes, then when I back out of the lobby, my game crashes too. Here is the debug file.

Seemingly a common issue. The game will just eventually not allow players to join the lobby after a while of playing a game. After a few times of playing the game will just crash upon joining a restored session. Happened on multiple games after a while.

If multiple validations of your game files don't work, try to play an entire multiplayer game without any custom ships.

I am very curious to see if the custom ships are a cause.
