No Ship Designs Error

GC3 can no longer find the ship design files for the various Civs. Every time I load up a game, I have to close numerous error messages telling me that the base ship design will be used for all those Civs.

I tried removing all the Civs I had downloaded from Steam but that didn't help.

How can I restore all the ship designs, including the ones for the Civs that come with the game by default?

UPDATE 06-15-2021

I have reinstalled the game but that didn't help. These error messages pop up even before it gets to the Main Menu.

Please help me out here.

TIA,

Richard

I had this same issue, I solved it by duplicating the affected civs and deleting the old versions.

Thank you for your reply.

One of the Civs listed in an error was a faction Called something-something-Tellar. I can't find that Civ anywhere on Steam or Nexus. I would gladly install it if for no other reason than to get rid of the error messages. I would do the same for all the others, too. There must be about 10 of them.

The game works fine, otherwise. I've never had a bug in GC3 before now. Never.

Again, thanks for the help,

Richard

I deleted them from within GC3. (That's at the point of starting a new game.)

I unsubscribed from everything on Steam.

I have even gone so far as to uninstall then reinstall the game.

I am still getting the errors regarding no ship designs for Civ <name>. 12 of them now...

Very frustrating,

Richard

@TheTargetMaster,

I tried your solution. The in-game ships match the Civs, but I'm still getting those blamed error messages during each game start.

Any other ideas?

Thank you,

Richard

A year or so ago I had that problem for no obvious reason.  I think I fixed it by starting the game and waiting until it got to the main menu, then clicking on the Resync Mods button at the bottom of the screen.  It will take a minute or two to finish, so be patient.

If that doesn't work, exit the game and go into your Documents\My Games\GC3Crusade directory.  Rename the folder Designs to DesignsOFF and the folder ShipStyleSet to ShipStyleSetOFF.  Start the game and try Resync Mods again.

One of those worked for me.  If neither works for you, I'm out of ideas.

Thanks, OldSpider, but that didn't work for me.

When I check the debug.err file, there are lots of "FAILED" lines regarding Civs I've never subscribed to. Very strange, indeed.

The only thing I can think of doing is to uninstall the game, make sure that the whole directory is empty, then re-install it.

I am looking for a clean slate here.

Does that sound like a plan?

Thanks,

Richard

@OldSpider, @TheTargetMaster

I uninstalled the game, emptied the GC3Crusade folder, and re-installed it.

Everything now works again.

Thanks for your help,

Richard

Maybe you can contact the stardock staff for help, or gather the error design files and upload them on dropbox.

If the two options do not help. Try to use the windows clean-up tool(or other system clean up softwear), find all GC3 files in your hard disk partition(or any file include the game name, and format suffix) , and remove them. Then reinstall the official version. A small probability can return to normal status.

Hi Lyuluck,

I have re-installed the game from scratch and it is working now. I am hesitant to subscribe to any factions/civs, though, for fear of mucking it up again.

Incidentally, I don't know what the difference is between a Faction and a Civ on Steam. Any help there?

Thanks,

Richard

@rap33042 bit late now but when I duplicated the civs I think I also changed their ship style to something different
