Game crashes while loading

out of the blue after working ok for 2 weeks.

Can't seem to get GCIII going.  Was going thru Campaign, 2nd Altarian.

Suddenly it crashes mid startup.

I've checked/tried

Purging game installation and reinstalled.

haven't yet

Performing a clean boot

If I had to guess, something got corrupted.

You didn't happen to just update your NVIDIA drivers did you?

Not deliberately.  still running 21.21.13.4201 1/31/2017 per system information.

I'm unaware of anything I changed. It's an old machine but was playing small universes and The Campaign ok as long as I didn't run anything else.

Do you have a dedicated or integrated graphics card?

I suggest trying to rename the folder GC3Crusade, it is located in Documents\My Games

Old geforce 8400 gs.

Already tried folder renames.

also repaired 2012 redist.

2015 failed already installed.  will try uninst/reinst next.

Restoring backup didn't fix it.

Reinstalled W10, steam and GCIII back in business.
