Right click on it and see if it gives you the option to unpin it.

I tried that ... it just puts up a tiny menu to the about my HP PC page, I tried looking in propeties also but there's no option to disable it .

Like a little brain teaser .... you can take that either way

Sounds like they put a registry key in (how considerate). You'll probably have to do a search on the HP forums to get the answer (or do a search in registry if you feel daring). You can't be the only one that wants to get rid of it.

ok, I've found where it is in the REGEDIT but have no idea how to disable it, can anyone help me out

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{biglongnumber}

If you're sure you found it and you're not faint of heart playing with the registry right click on the entry and export to a temp folder. You then delete the entry in the registry. You might have to re-boot to see effect. If it doesn't work or causes other problems double click your saved .reg file and it will return entry to original settings. I must add that this is not something I recommend doing. Good luck

if you have xp, you can right click on the start button, select properties, start menu tab, customize start menu button, advanced tab, middle section and uncheck that item. Try that.

Normally Bones2112 method works just fine...but we are talking HP here so who knows

Found some info on how to 'Add' your own Icon/Logo through the registry...maybe it will help you to remove the HP one...good luck

I have an HP PC as well. I searched the registry for "About my HP PC" and found that same key with the big long number. I deleted the key and now it's gone from my start menu. No harm done. Of course, you should always back up your registry before doing anything like that, just in case you need to restore it. But I had no problems.

thats good to know. I was gonna do the same thing but had second thoughts. But now I have a link to WinCusto there so everything is good, but I will keep that in mind, thanks.
