Tiles 2.0 is the culmination of two betas and some tweaks for 2.0

2.0

  • Auto-hide tab will now save new position when moved with SHIFT held down.
  • Brother print/scan app doesn't show extra redundant windows in tiles list.
1.91
1.90
  • Light mode support
  • Tiles UI dark mode support
  • MS edge now detected as a web browser for the web page
  • Extended Unicode support

  • Faster text drawing
  • Filter for maximized windows (when minimized they vanish from the list)
  • Groupy tabs hidden from the taskbar will now be hidden in Tiles as well
  • Show Groupy groups together as child windows of the most visible window
  • Fix issue with selecting child windows as off by 1 sometimes
  • Fixed issue with not always remembering the last page selected
  • Fixed issue with thumbnail dragging flickering when not on the primary monitor
  • Window lists now respect the Windows 10 virtual desktops so only applications running on the current desktop show
  • Fixed issue with selection rectangle being out of alignment on high dpi screens when scrolled partially off-screen
  • Fixed issue with thumbnails for electron framework apps (Whatsapp, Teams) sometimes painting oddly
  • Blur on Windows 10 changed to Acrylic blur and able to be forced on

Does this version work with windows 7?

From the product page : https://www.stardock.com/products/tiles/, it seem listed as Windows 7 support.

The refresh rate of Tiles 2.0 is far too high which creates a high CPU-load. As far as I can tell from the preview tiles, the refresh rate is almost zero and every change is in real time?! IE: If I scroll through a website, the CPU-usage of Tiles is higher than the browser, where the actual scrolling is happening.

Here is a screenshot of the cpu-usage of Tiles and Firefox if Firefox plays a video, which runs also in realtime in the tiles preview.

I´m a programmer myself and my first guess would be Tiles refresh rate is way to short (zero?). A refresh rate of 1 Second would by far be enough for these little previews IMHO.

Hello,
I have forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

But I do notice it is not that high on my system. Playing youtube video. 1080p

Hi Basj and thanks for your fast reply!

I noticed that it´s not the little preview but the Visualizer of RainMeter, which you´re using too as I can see. Strange thing though, "Tiles" CPU usage is only this high, if the Visualizer is active. If I deactivate the Visualizer the CPU-usage of Tiles is minimal (~3%).

Hard to tell, if the problem lies within RainMeter or Tiles, but the CPU-usage of RainMeter is always under 0.5%! I did try different Visualizer-Plugins/Themes, but Tiles CPU-usage is always skyrocketing :-\

Sorry for the confusion :-"

The previews are OS thumbnails.  They are always 'live' as drawn by the DWM automatically.

Thanks for the clarification, Neil! Please see my post above yours, regarding RainMeter :)

Another problem I´ve found is that not all system tray icons are shown on the bottom of the bar

5 Icons are always missing (Dropbox, Remove Hardware, Network, Volume, Ink)

Probably can't fix this as I still haven't figured out why my icons always rearranged themselves and move all the time on boot up but I assume it's related to the issue, but I have two 27 inch monitors and a 32 inch monitor with the same resolution (2560 x 1440). Almost daily, the tiles app docks on different monitors instead of staying on the far right one. It seems that the monitor "number" changes at every bootup rather than staying fixed to the one monitor I want it on. Is there any way I can assign Tiles to just the monitor I want it to be on maybe based on hardware ID or even the model/name of the monitor itself?

Am I daydreaming?

I sent this message 2 years ago and nothing seems to have been taken care of from Stradock so I'm challenging your developper once again!  :o)

I'm using a multi monitor system (5 monitors!) on 2 video cards and Tiles, from time to time, start on another monitor than the one choose in the setup.

The problem is that Tiles is using the number of the monitor instead of its system name so, if I reboot and because of a glitch of MY system, the monitor are not assigned their previous number, Tiles will open on the same monitor number as it was set to.

I havev plenty of other software that are using the smart name of the monitor, so no matter where it is assigned, this piece of software will ALWAYS appear on the monitor I choose.

Do you accept my challenge and fix this way of behaving of your software?

Thank you very much.

François

Hi, Chrome displays for me only one window, although I had seven of them opened. The "group process windows" option is disabled:

How do I make all of them appear? Recent Windows 10 Home X64 (22H2 build 19045), newest Titles 2.0 available in OD, Chrome 120.0.6099.71)

I tested, if you have open those site in the same chrome, just different tabs it will only show as one Windows. But if you move the tabs out from that browser group it will appear as another app windows. Something like screenshot below.

Hi Basj. They are different browser windows (see the taskbar on the screenshot), each of them having dozens of browser tabs.

But. When I restarted my computer today, they showed up correctly. Maybe Titles have to see those windows being created?

Sorry, I missed that on your first screenshot. So, the issue resolve itself when you restart? Any idea how it started happening? Any steps I can try to reproduce the issue?

Correct.

I tried to replicate it but was unable to. When I close and open Tiles, they correctly load all Chrome windows.

Looks like it might be just the first run issue (and thus no issue really).

Great, glad to hear that.
