I like the idea about making it a option in the user profile thing. I would go for that.

Until I got my Wincustomize subscription I almost never used the message board. I couldn't stand it. It was scruched up and topics didn't stand out IMO. It is certainly unlike any other message board I go to, most do not have links to anything else related to the site, at least not as much as WC does.
I think its an improvement, but still not as nice visually to read as in the Skinbrowser or SDC.

I totally understand why some don't like it...makes sense, I see both sides. But for message board purposes solely...I like it gone. But i do see how and why it would bug some--we're creatures of habit. I moved my mouse to the right, as I was sure i would click on something 'new' but the 'new' wasn't there But I still like it better without, for 'myself'

Ah, was puzzling me why things looked unusual there.
If this thread hadn't gone up, I'd still be trying to figure it out.....

We should do it like ArtUproar, Users signed up can assign each section to where they want, that way each user can have their own layout of the site and everyone would be happy.

Hmmmmmmmm...Worse i think,for two reasons...On the main page the posters' name was already to far from the subject of the post,making it hard to tell who posted what.Now its even further away and almost impossible .Plus I have a hard time reading text that runs from one side of the screen to the other.I like text to wrap at about book size.There is a reason why magazines are printed in columns(newspapers too)

I don't like it. At 1280 resolution, the text is much too wide. I usually surf with my browser maximised, but now I reduce the window width. I find it harder to read posts when the lines are too wide, my eyes have to move further left and right. It's definately easier and faster to read when it's narrower. That's why newspaper write in columns.

Anyway, if this is a vote, I vote bring it back the way it was.

I preferred it the old way. Not only does the removal of the right-hand column make the design less balanced (making your eye wander from the page as it reaches the right edge), it makes navigating to other parts of the site more difficult. It therefore destroys the two main aims of good web site design, making it a distinct step backwards.

When I first came back to the message board after the change had been made I thought something was wrong with the server, as this is exactly how the pages used to look when there was an error during the loading of the page.

Makes me no diff........... I use SDC to surf the boards, and for the rest of the site, I use a browser.

By the way, I really like the way SkinEdge have things set up. It's probably a cross-browser nightmare, but it certainly makes things seem more intuitive.

grayhaze....same here....I thought I had to hunt down some idiot's thread title that had no punctuation/spaces and caused the tables to extend and screw up the page....never imagined it'd be trying to be a deliberate/intended 'improvement'....

It is different but I will get used to it. I do have to say I thought the same thing though "what's messed up now"

I think we can make it a preference in the account settings.

Whats the big deal. Use the SB or SDC and use the discussions to read the MSGDB and all that stuff will be there. I had to go to the board the old fashioned way to see what the fuss was about. I like it the way it always has been.

I was wondering what was going on. Oh, and register my vote to put it back to what it was...
