Curtains uploaded skins

Virus report

I downloaded a custom Curtains about 7 days ago from the Stardock site. It evidently had a virus. The virus removed Mcafee. The virus also disabled my anti-virus detection, disabled Windows ability to detect if anti-virus is enabled. I separately downloaded Malwarebytes, it detected a .dll and deleted the dynamic link library and several entries. I had to uninstall the anti-virus and reinstall. When I first reinstalled Mcaffee, the antivirus was not working. So after I removed the virus with malwarebytes, I had to uninstall Mcafee, then reinstall it.

Since I had downloaded several curtains, I am not certain which one. Perhaps admin keeps a log, can check which one I last downloaded on my account. That would be the one.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Would be easier to confirm this if you can list down those few style you downloaded last. And, I am not sure if CurtainsStyles can include dll file in it. Anyway, I have forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Curtains styles cannot load dll files at all.  The styles are purely a renamed zip file which is extracted and then the png images and the curtainsstyle file are used.  Even if a user included a dll file inside a uploaded style it shouldn't be able to do anything.  A dll is a library which has to be loaded up by something and curtains doesn't have code to load any third party dlls.

Where did malwarebytes say the dll was located?

Obviously we will be checking that none of the uploaded styles contain anything dubious just in case.

Hello,

If at all possible, can you try to determine what one and provide a link to it. They all exist here:

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Using the IP address you used when posting, we searched our logs and found 1 download in the past 2 weeks:
Oct 23: Curtains Antique
There are no suspicious files in it - all images and the style schema:
Also, the comments from others on that style have no other such reports.
