Access to 3.x versions of the game through Steam betas

Hi,

I'm trying to run Galactic Civilizations III in Proton but it doesn't work (display freezes when clicking on ships).  Apparently earlier versions before 3.9 worked fine so I'd like to try that.

In Steam, one can select a few old versions from the beta version menu; one from the 4.x series and a couple from the 2.x series.  However, I'd like to try a version from the 3.x series, before 3.9.  Is that possible?

Thanks,

someg33zer

I'm also trying to install galactic civilizations 3 on steam. I'm running kubuntu how do you do that. I have steam founders elite package. Why cant stardock just make a steam version please.

I also agree if the 3.9 version doesnt work on linux, please put the 3.8 version, so I can play it on linux please.

What I need is detailed instructions on how to make this game work on linux.

I posted this, but no one answered.

GC uses dx so I am using wine and its partners to run dx and hopefully get gc to work

I just installed galactic civilizations on linux. I'm assuming you already installed vulcan. I'm assuming you disabled stardocks overlay. It will not run on a later version of proton than 4.2. That needs to be changed in settings, and properties. You have to change settings to force proton on everybody. I just installed it in linux.

I'm running version 4.01. It will not run on the new proton.
