underpowered Rebel faction

I've been playing interregnum for quite a while now, and despite the crashes, that mostly happen in the beginning of the game, there is something that really bothers me more. Rebel faction is not balanced at all. I know. I'm one of those who prefers Rebels to the Empire factions. But I've been playing this mod (with the 4EX) for 2-3 years and I can't raise difficulty because Rebels just suck, ships are seriously underpowered, research doens't benefit too much in the early stages of the game, there is nothing that gives even a slight edge for Rebels to overcome in the early and mid game. Even late game is lost if you don't have twice the expansion and twice the fleet. I really would love to see this fixed. Because in terms of graphis and models this really is a very promising mod (probably the best alonside with Star Trek Armada III). The ship designs from both factions are really polished and look amazing. It's just a shame that it isn't balanced.

The Rebel Alliance is a difficult faction to play. Generally we have found that late game the Rebels can be among the most powerful factions in the game. But it is hard to get there, and that is somewhat on purpose, as we want to make the Rebels feel like the underdogs. As you can imagine, its not an easy task to make a faction feel underpowered while actually being balanced.

That said, the next update on Monday will have some major changes to the Rebel early game, along with a more traditional New Republic faction if still don't like them but want to play a good guy faction.

Thank you so much for your feedback! Yeah they feel like the underdogs. I now understand why you made them so underpowered... Well I guess I will wait for the update. Nonetheless I really love the Rebel faction and hope to like the New Republic one too. ;) Cheers!
