How many computers can I install Object Desktop

(EULA not in line with forum posts)

Forum posts show it can be installed on 5 pcs:

https://forums.stardock.com/491695/how-many-pcs-can-i-have-running-object-desktop

https://forums.stardock.com/482560/question-about-multiple-computers

But current Eula says 1 PC:

Question 1:

How many PCs can install and use the software if I buy it.

Question 2:

Why does Startdock keep those misleading forum posts online? Bait and switch?

The current EULA is of course correct and binding at any point in time.

The old posts were correct when they were posted.  There is no bait and switch, just lots of old posts about a variety of subjects.

Ah, this means the current license is no longer for more than 1 computer? Too bad, these days everyone has multiple computers. I was just about to make the purchase based on what was posted online, lucky I asked.

Btw, it may not be considered bait and switch, but Stardock certainly does not provide that info anywhere in a friendly format. One needs to dig out the current Eula to discover the huge discrepancy with the past Eula. And if someone Googles the question, there is only those old misleading posts appearing as answers. And this certainly goes to Stardock's advantage.

Btw, I think the users should know that the sale advertised is clearly misleading. Just 1-2 years ago the software used to be valid for 5 computers. Even if we consider the full price of the software ($49.99) that makes it $10 per computer. Now you strike out the old price and make the software $29.99, but you do not inform the customers that the new price is for a single computer. You have effectively increased the price per computer by 300% and masked it as a sale. I think this needs to be called out for what it is: a dishonest marketing technique. And customers should shy away from getting in business with a company that uses these tricks.

P.s. Not upset at all, just making sure everyone understands what is going on, and do not get tricked by old forum posts like I was almost about to.

Other than Object Desktop I also have another subscription service ... KIS, or Kaspersky Internet Security, one of the 'better' AV proggies made.  There are more than one option for subscription...eg, 25 usd for 1 device or my choice... 54 for 3.

I pay for what I get/want.

And yes, I have more than 3 computers .... more than 5 too (ignoring the dozen or so VMs).... so they don't all have KIS, just as they don't all have OD.

Consumers have choices...;)

What dp234 is saying is that there's conflicting info going around about how many computers you can install Object Desktop on. Someone might see one of those old forum posts and think they can install it on 5 computers. I don't know what can be done about that. Can those old forum posts be deleted? I can see where that could be confusing.

The inherent 'permanence' of the internet means there will always be conflicting historical differences with such things as product prices, etc.  Imagine my horror when I discovered petrol in Oz wasn't 30c a gallon.....it WAS .....once....;)

I doubt anyone would or could change all documented history to match whatever 'now' is ....;)

Well, Stardock placed their gem software on a sale website (Groupon I think) where it was clearly listed for 5 computers. This is after I posted here. So what I did is record the screen during the purchase procedure, and keep the recording. I have already installed the software on multiple computers. If they come after me, I will ask for the money back or sue them. As simple as that. For everyone else avoid buying directly, there are better prices out there, and install it on all computers you want. These guys clearly don't synchronize their Eula policy and make misleading claims to sell more. And now that Windows powertoys is coming back, there will be some new cool features that will not need Stardock's presence in the business anymore.
