Game will not launch via Steam

I bought the game via Steam.  When I click on Play in my Steam library, the Stardock window opens.  BUT, when I click on "Play" Starcontrol in the stardock window, the button changes briefly to blue "Stop", then reverts to green "Play" button.  Game does not launch.

My system exceeds all system requirements.  I have already re-installed game (multiple times), Steam client (multiple times), video drivers, DirectX, and audio drivers.

Any help you can offer is appreciated.

Hmm, sounds like an issue with the launcher for some reason.

What you can try is doing this:

1. Right-click on Star Control: Origins in your library > Open properties

2. Go to Local Files > Click on Browse Local Files

3. Open the "Game" folder.

4. Find and launch StarControl_DX11.exe

If the game is still not launching something might be wrong with the installation.

I got these errors when I do that:

"The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found.  Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

"The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found.  Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

These files are nowhere to be found in the game files.
