Stardock Releases CursorFX 4: Customize the Windows Mouse Cursor

Stardock released a new program to customize the Windows mouse cursor today. CursorFX allows users to customize the Windows mouse cursor to one that is much higher resolution, more responsive, and supports animation and effects.

CursorFX v4 adds support for Windows 10 and high DPI displays, supports 144hz or higher refreshes, and includes new cursors that take advantage of these new features. The new CursorFX is compatible with the thousands of cursors from previous versions that are available on WinCustomize.com.

"The standard Windows cursor technology in Windows dates back to Windows NT," said Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock. "CursorFX v4 is designed to take advantage of the advances Windows PCs have made over the past several years, including high DPI support and high refresh rate monitors, while giving users the option to visually change their mouse cursors to one that suits their tastes."

CursorFX 4 is now available through Stardock for $4.99.  CursorFX also comes with Stardock's Object Desktop suite. Visit www.cursorfx.com to learn more.

I have but one issue left with CFX4.  The config dialog on the effects and trails tabs have a white background which makes it hard to see the effects you're choosing from. Any chance of fixing that, or giving a light/dark option?

I recieved the email for CursorFX, clicked on the link and it downloaded maybe a newer version of object desktop which i installed, and CursorFX is not there.  Uninstalled Object desktop, ran ccleaner, reinstalled object desktop using the link provided, and Cursor FX is still not there.  Emailed customer service, and they apparently don't even read what you write, because they told me how to retrieve my product keys.

I am running windows 10 enterprise professional 64b

i tried to quote your previous reply, but the quote button doesn't work on chrome

Hello everyone

I had version 2.16 installed and working perfectly.

I wanted to upgrade to version 4 and when I try to register with the key of the old version it says that the key is not valid.

Can or can not upgrade and how?

Thank you

If you have ObjectDesktop, it's included. If you only had CursorFX 2.16 then it's a paid upgrade.

Thank you for your attention.
I think for now I continue with version 2.16 that works perfectly i my Win 10 x64.

Same here. I uninstalled the old version 2.16. Tried again this morning. Still couldn't apply effects. And cursor drag very slowly or choppy with new version. A lag when you try to apply effects also. I also posted earlier and had a reply that CursorFX didn't work on windows 8 but if that is the case why does it show up in Object Desktop as install able?

Don't know why anyone would tell you that CursorFX doesn't work on 8, it does.

It might be one of those things that "depends".  He's referring to Neil's replies #1 and #3 here:

Yes Niel's that is the response I was referring too. In my case when i reboot to the new version in Windows 8 and I fry to load Stardock Objectdock, Windows 8 pretty much freezes.

Ah, I sit corrected.

Don't know why anyone would tell you that CursorFX doesn't work on 8, it does.  It's why we excluded it from the OS compatibility list.

It 'works' there are just scaling issues on Win8.

I wasn't on 8 or 8.1 long, but I never run a machine without Stardock stuff, and I don't remember any issues.

nevermind i just bought it anyways... but im not digging it.... seems you fellas at stardock just threw this version 4 together without testing most things... just to get it out there.... like most companies do these days sadly.....(try to make money as fast as possible) what all those companies fail to realize.... is doing that will actually cost you money in the long run.... (you will not only lose current costomers, but wont get any new ones either...) it's common sense... the old version wich i also purchased was way better than this one, it's only 5 bucks so no big deal... most of the cool animations on all the cool cursors dont even work on this version...

There were few betas and one RC version of CursorFX v4 released before this one and lots of users participate in it to make sure CursorFX v4 works. There were a lot more internal released that I know off before the first public beta release. So it is not fair to say they did not do enough testing before this release. Yes, we will still find few odd issues after the release since, they can't possibly simulate everyone PC setup in the world. But as soon as they found and verify an issue they work on them to overcome it.

If you have an issue on performance there is a special thread where you can list it out so Support and Dev can look at it and verify it. And work on a solution for it.

Since I JUST purchased my old CursorFX not too long ago, do I get the new one for a special "should have waited a week" discount? :)  P.S.  I also purchased the old, old CursorFX when I was a teen.  If I purchase a new version, I'd be a three-time CursorFxxxer.  :D

Weird issue - cursorFX , Lucite Cursor. Ever so often, will go to highlight a window and the entire application "closes" not sure if crashes or closes. Outlook, Skype for business both affected. Going to try disabling shadows.

That is strange, please post a video grab of the issue and post it here.

Hi Sean, is the new ( v4 ) version included in the old subscription for v2, or do you have to pay & download it separately ?

Hello,

I'll try to answer you on that. As far as I know, if you said subscription. Its on ObjectDesktop subscription. If that is it. And if your subscription for ObjectDesktop still active, than yes, CursorFX v4 should be available to you. But if you purchased individual license for CursorFX v2 than no. You will need to purchase another license for CursorFX v4.

Thank you,

Thanks, Basj. From what I'm reading, I think I'll wait before I upgrade. I bought the standalone program, not Objectdesktop.

Installed the latest version of CursorFX4_4.03. It was not good, choppy etc. Uninstalled and went back to CursorFX Plus 2.10. Works much better now, Smooth and clear. Effects, not so much.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. For the choppy issue try disable shadow. Most of the animated cursors come with its own shadows anyway. What other issue your have?

Thanks

Effects won't work. Desktop context menu and I clicked Show Desktop Icons. Effects work. Using CFX 2.16
