I'll bring this up to the developer working on an updated version of CursorFX to see if there still an issue. If there is any current games this is happening with it would be helpful to look at.

Hello jogalderman,

Not really sure if I understand the issue you are facing, but, on my system, CursorFX work. Need more information from you and screenshot will also help.

Thank you,

Your previous thread about this "issue" was locked for a reason, simply because you already have the answer right there.

Steam/Valve use their own graphic rendering engine(s) (VGUI) in both standard mode and the big picture mode and like many games and programs/apps will never be and should never be compatible with CursorFX for very obvious reasons i.e. they have their own cursors in addition to another engine for rendering than Windows standard GUI. So what you are asking isn't only undesirable, but impossible to implement.

i didnt mean the steam overlay , but when i go into the windows system tray and right click the steam icon , it messes up the cursor making it disappear while in the menu, appears again as soon as i move the cursor out of that right click menu, as well as it disappears while running a steam game like Half life 2 or such, try it out and you'll see the exact same issue, @Yrgal i see, well was hoping for vgui compatibility , since it seems vgui gets used for said right click menu in the system tray as well, unlike the actual steam window which uses windows standard gui as we can see per basjs example

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Very true and any workaround would have us doing hacky stuff with DirectX as well as triggering every anti-cheat measure any game might have.

The OP should not have been lead to believe that we would work around such things - our mistake long ago.

If you do not have CursorFX installed in the default location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\CursorFX

Odd things can happen if CursorFX works at all.  If you do not, uninstall, reboot, reinstall in the default location and see if you still see your issues.

CursorFx Cursor but as well as in the right click menu of steam in the windows taskbar,

Again, if you have it installed in the proper/default location, please send a link to a video of exactly what is happening.  You can record the video with any number of free capture tools, including natively with Windows 10 (WinKey + G) and upload it to a cloud file sharing service (GoogleDrive, OneDrive, DropBox, etc).

Can you share something (to somewhere) that does not require Flash?

With what I scan see that you are doing, I cannot reproduce your issue on Win10 general release:

https://cdn.stardock.us/support/uploads/2020-01-29_15-40-41.mp4

Or on another PC, Windows Insider fast ring:

https://cdn.stardock.us/support/uploads/2020-01-29_15-44-34.mp4

Also tried with a WB skin applied, as you seem to have, and it still worked.

Why is this white - not visible:

Have you tried doing a Windows 10 clean boot where only CursorFX was the only non-Microsoft app starting in your Startup:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

Are you running Steam under another set of Admin credentials or CursorFX under some other compatibility mode?

As you can surmise, something else it at work (an app, setting, etc) that is causing this as it is not readily reproducible.

the white is just me covering up for privacy reasons lols, im using w7 ultimate 64bit sp1 btw, everything is running as admin by default nothing separated or in compatibility mode ,not sure what else would be the issue here i changed to default preset cursors , same deal, maybe this needs a separate fix on w7:\

Hello again,

Would like to know what you have on your system on UI side. I see there is a frame on your taskbar icons Expanded Tray, Is that from Windowblinds or something else? If it is Windowblinds can you tell me the theme you are using when you taken that video.

Thank you,

Ok, I was able to reproduce this, with the Steam systray icon, on Win7.

I will talk to the devs but the odds are not good that time/resources will be devoted to such a niche issue:

-Old version of CursorFX
-Non-debilitating / issue is primarily cosmetic
-A specific app and only In the systray only - no doubt because of its own properties
-On an OS that is no longer supported by Microsoft themselves

That said, thank you for the report/feedback.

After looking into this further, there is also an issue with the Steam overlay in general (Shift + Tab while in a game) on Win7 (not Win10)- the CFX cursor does not show and does not, as it should, default to the Windows native cursor.

The resource argument I made still applies, resources being allocated for the current (old) version of CursorFX on Windows 7, however, for reasons I can't detail just yet, there is a motivation to see why this is not working as expected for the Steam client (some of it anyway).

In summation, we will be looking into this further.

oh thank god finally someone understands , i already thought im going insane , btw that theme in question is the HUD Theme the white stuff are annotations to block out private data, yeah niche, but still annoying as hell , both issues youve mentioned , btw w7 support might have ended , but its still going strong , and theres still support just for the next 3 years , just not for non enterprise users , alternatively i get my updates over at askwoody.com, should last me a few more years atleast , i keep my system pretty clean and safe not to mention curveball being a non issue on w7 and 8, meh, so heres to hoping you guys do w7 one final favour with a cursorfx update , would be appreciated a ton

Just an FYI, in testing an internal build of CFX, the Steam issue is fixed on Win7.

Stephen, a new-ish developer here at Stardock, fixed it.  Wicked talented that one is.
