Why I hate Windows 10

.....and what's the program that's not responding?

Windows 10.

It's gonna be due to a Windows Update.... and that 'feature' still doesn't work....forward or back.

Hard reset gets you going again...for about a minute or two....but eventually the only 'action' is the busy cursor going round and round.....

And har-fucking-har ...try Googling 'Windows 10 Freezes' and you'll get more hits than 'porn' or 'fluffy cat'....;p

At this stage I'm thinking....reformat and going to an OS THAT WORKS....aka....Windows 7 Ultimate 64 [what was on it originally].

I'm speechless.  And that never happens.

I love Windows 10 and have very little problems out of it.  I hate to say it, but most of the issues I have with Windows 10 are with Stardock products.

That's funny right there...lol!!!!

I have 3 systems running 10, 2 Pro and 1 Home....

Belay that...I have 2 systems running 10 ... 1 Pro and 1 Home.....

....and 1  Pro that seizes.

But I'm sure MS would say...."2 out of 3 ain't bad"....;)

You are full of comedy tonight...lol.

I am running 10 Pro on 6 PCs, a Surface, a laptop, and an All In One.

7 and 8.1 are VMs.  Life is good, mostly.  My wife's laptop can have issues, but they are usually "picnic" aka PEBKAC errors.

I have a new stuck screen...

Apparently one needs to wait.... 4 or 5 hours....

Life....ebbing away.

Waited 9 hours....

....only result....I need a shave.....

I sure hope you weren't just sitting there waiting while the installing was stalling ? o_O

Jafo, you must be cursed. I have never had these issues.

Since you're down under, maybe flip the rig onto it's top?

"Keep personal files and apps" has never worked well in my experience.

Meanwhile I've managed to get from XP Home to Win 7 Ult to 10 Pro on Terry's Uncle's laptop - new installs and only the wifi driver to resolve.

Mine, however has been on 37% installing for 8 hours...

"Your PC will restart several times..."

Pig's arse .....;p

Yeah right....and the LAN.

"Device not using any resources because it has a problem."

Brilliant, Microsoft.  I hope the eff-wit who composed that error gets a pay rise.

Device Manager has exclamation marks.....conflicts.  I haven't seen that since Windows 98.

And when the network connections 'has a problem' you can't update....and the OS can't auto-fix instead of auto-fuckup.

So far every attempt at a fix has failed...and Google found even more fluffy-cats.

I'm betting the solution ends up as 'format C:' ....;p

Oh....and while it was Win 7 Ult it was fine....happily updating, etc....;p

I tried windows 10 pro for almost a day, and i couldn't stand it. Nothing works as it should at all, and it's so depended on MS Store and i hate the store. So i use Win 8.1 Pro again which you can turn off the store without windows crying like a baby about it. Plus you can minimize the telemetry in Win 7/8 without windows having a tantrum and removing activation and other stuff that it's crying about. And you can update it without having to reinstall drivers/software and redo all the settings again and again...

Well....looks like Uncle's machine might be sorted...found the conflicting device....killed it and the LAN fired up...

....needless to say, I then lost all the USBs ....

.....but now I can surf the porn...er....net...;)

Spoke too soon....Windows update....restart....lost LAN....and still no WiFi.....

Microsoft...you are a dick.

I have a Windows 7

I primarily use Windows 7, and I have 8.1 and 10 too. When one designs for all 3 OS's.... :-)

Of course....might have lost LAN...but got USBs back.

Decided to concentrate on my laptop.... had a few more goes at upgrading [from a borked 10 to a newer one]...they naturally failed...so...went for a full format and clean install....

....now I'm up to the third time to 'choose English, etc'...so am in an install loop.

Microsoft, you bastard....I'm 65 ....and gonna be dead before these two make it to ten correctly.

Got out of the loop.....Google is your fiend....

Now I have a current release virginal 10 Pro 64 on SSD with exactly nothing from the old install...so have about 5 years of catching up to do.

Gonna time it how long it takes to stuff up....;p

Good news!

Needless to say....not quite...

Uncle's laptop is a clean install....gets to 'let's connect you to the internet'....and stalls....still doesn't see the LAN or WiFi.

Well, shit!  Microsux strikes again?

More Googling.... seems the utter cock-up that is 'Device Manager' is all down to a driver provided by MS [figures] - PCMCIA.SYS .....and all you have to do is rename it to .old and full reboot.

Suddenly, 'almost' all of the duplicates/conflicts are gone...and you'll be on the net....again....

....probably just in time to get some new updates that'll bork the system once more....;)

That is just mind-bending.

Well I guess I have about a month before microsoft stops supporting W7.  I have 10 and I'am sure I will hate it as much as I did 8.

10 is ugly, but very good under the hood.  YMMV.

It is usually really good about getting your drivers for you.

Of course, you can't prove any of that by Paul...lol.

I just went to Win 10 on both computers and I agree with Jafo.  Try eliminating some of the , "universal applications" if you are feeling masochistic.
