I am still having the problem that on some of my touchpads/computers, I can't 2 finger scroll in fences

no 2 finger scroll with touchpad

Some computers have it some don't.  All computers do the 2 finger scroll on webpages, file managers, text editors, apps and softwares, etc.  However there are some computers which do not have 2 finger scrolling in the fences.  Namely Asus and Razer Blade.  I think it may be a difference in the touch pad drivers where Elan do not.

However the Elan touch pads do scroll on most apps as I said in the first line.  Synaptics touch pads seem to have no problem scrolling in fences.  I think this remains a mystery that is unsolved since I first brought it up in late 2018.

I did notice that my Synaptics touch pad has lost the ability to 2 finger scroll in fences when it has only been moved over the fence, and not clicked on the fence yet.  I did no Windows update, and no fences update for this change to occur.  This is a bad change.  I prefer when I can 2 finger scroll just from moving into the fence, but not clicking it.  It may have something to do with an update to the Rainmeter exe.   I have been looking at my having updated the Rainmeter .exe I am using.  This is possibly the only change to my one Synaptics touch pad computer.  However I still do not install the Rainmeter .exe and only run it as a portable executable that I keep in my taskbar.  This may be a source of some of the issues.  Perhaps a starting point for software designers would be to try to work with the Rainmeter which is also a very important desktop customization program.

Again it seems that Elan drivers which do run with 2 finger scrolling on all apps and such, are the problem here and that would be the second point that Fences software developers would need to look at.  I should add that I have a brand new subscription and have bee using the newest fences software on a Razer Blade computer with a Razer Blade Pro touchpad, which I think very closely resembles the Elan touch pad on an Asus ROG I use at work.

I'm having the same problem as everyone in this thread

Why do you keep selling it if you don't support it anymore? You are doing nothing to solve the problem!

There will be an update for Fences rather soonish.  However, we tried, with multiple devices, to reproduce and resolve this - we could not - it will not be part of the update I am afraid.

Everything Toolbar (a plugin for voidtools' Everything search) has a similar problem to Fences, where touchpad scrolling doesn't really work with Windows Precision and other touchpads.

However, the developer has made a comment that sounds like he might have a solution (see here: https://github.com/stnkl/EverythingToolbar/issues/20), which maybe could be cross-implemented in a similar manner in Fences?

Nothing has changed I am afraid.

Still nothing at this point? I just started a free trial of Fences after my coworker praised it for the last couple of years and I like it greatly other than this issue. Like others, I can use multi-gesture scrolling on folder portals, but not inside normal fences. I am using an Alienware M15R5 from last year with a precision trackpad.

I guess that answer is no. My trial is up in 12 days. While I like what fences has to offer, the fact that I cannot scroll with the trackpad of my laptop compounded with the fact that its been an issue for so long with no resolution or update doesn't lead me to believe this product is really well cared for. I'll keep using it and decide if I really need it in just over a week I guess.

I am having this issue on a brand-new HP Spectre x360 running Windows 11 with a Synaptics touchpad.  Two-finger scrolling works fine within the Fences application itself (where you go to configure settings), but does not work at all in Fences on the desktop.

Very disappointed to learn this has been a 4+ year issue with no resolution!!

I just found fences and have a new Dell XPS 15 9510 and I have the same thing.  I cant 2 finger scroll inside a fence with the touchpad and my external mouse works fine.

I was so excited to use this and looks great but this is a deal breaker if its not going to work.

I found a free program called Portals that is a take off on this.  Not as good but not bad and does what i need.  It scrolls fine.

Please let me know if there is a solution and I will reinstall.  Until then I cant use this.  I was going to buy it for my whole company.  We get so many complains about this.  Cant until this is solved.  We use dell Products.

ALso.  Its just a generic Driver in windows 11 and not a special driver causing this.

It took a while before I got to it -- but I downloaded 5.59 today and the touchpad scrolling is working wonderfully.  Thanks!
