[Enquiry] GC3's Future (Modding Additions and Requests)

I was wondering if there are any plans to allow us access to the dll source code? (Like Firaxis does with thier Civ games)

If this is not possible or not on the cards. Could we please have Buffers (like Invasions and Promotions) added to:-

  • TradeRouteModifierTargetTypes.xsd
  • ShipHullTypes.xsd
  • StrategicResourceTypes.xsd
  • StrategicIconTypes.xsd
  • PersonalityTypes.xsd
  • GalaxySizeTypes.xsd
  • StatTypes.xsd  (mainly for adding new Resources)
  • PrerequisiteDef.xsd  (The addition of ShipHullType and ShipRoleType, For events: PersonalityType, AtWar, AtPeace, IsAI, IsPlayer, PlanetTraitType)
  • Ability to add a PreReq to the Stat/Modifier and Trigger Tables within other tables.

A fix for AudioAssets and GraphicsAssets tables failing to check the ....\GC3Crusade\Mods\MyMod\Movie, Audio and GFX folders for new Assets like movies, music, splash screens, colour palletes etc.

There are probably other scheme's too, I will add them as and when I come accross them. Or others can chip in :)

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking for, except the last I think that you're asking that we add support in the prerequisite system to require a specific ShipHullType or ShipRoleType?  Could you please be more specific?

If I'm reading it right, promotions and invasions have placeholders (labeled as buffers) to add more types of promotions and invasions.

Horemvore would like placeholders added to these other schemas so that modders can add more types of trade routes, ship hull types, etc.

In fact,  more placeholders for promotions would be great too.

Yes please, with these added to this table it would be possible to actually make roles a bit more important in combat and with hull sizes it would be possible to have hull specific components.

I don't think that it will work for GalaxySizeTypes because they would not be sequential for size unless you made them all larger and I don't think that's advisable. ShipHullTypes is not possible because the specific values are referenced in code directly to determine other things.

The changes to the ship design system prereqs are definitely possible.  The others look like they're possible.

Nope did not want them all larger, more of an inbetween what we currntly have.

It might be possible to make a custom setting, because we've had to add so much support for revisions of map defs as we've tweaked them over the years, or at least make it able to load a custom map def tied to an existing size type (the one it's closest in size to).

Well, adding a new hull type would probably require an artist' time and I'm not sure that is something that a producer would grant. But we might able to do something through the pre-requisite system to make the carrier modules less exploitable.

How about a competition for modders and artists in the mod community? There are very talented people in there and I am sure they can come up with something usable quickly, prize is use of their models and official credit, I am sure the Legal department can come up with something that would work and satisfy all parties.  :-)

@Mods -  Could you please merge posts 1 and 2?

Updated post 2 with PlanetTraitType added to the PreReq's. Would make for some interesting event's, follow on's from colonization events, stand alone events, or a combination of both resulting in rare events.
