Continuous Lockups

I have Ashes and all of its DLC from Steam and am trying to play the game for the first time. When using dx11 I can only play for a few minutes before the game freezes. When trying on dx12 or vulken the game crashes before getting to the main menu. I am running windows 10 with a quad core processor and 24 Gigs of RAM and have a gtx 970. Windows 10 is up to date as well as my graphics drivers and I have no issues playing other games.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

When using dx11 I can only play for a few minutes before the game freezes

There is a full FAQ that may help you here:

https://forums.stardock.com/486449/ashes-support-faq

From what you wrote, that you can get it to run for a while before a crash, meaning time based and not event based, we think of heat, power, or overclocking of the GPU.  The FAQ has a 'Overclocking' section about those things and what to attempt.

Let us know if that helps

I did see this and I have already confirmed my game cache. When trying to reinstall VCRedist and DXSetup the _CommonRedist directory does not exist. I dont have an over clock on my GPU and when checking my CPU temp its only in the low 50c range

Is this where you are looking:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist

I did not look there as the document you linked says the following:

"-Reinstall VCRedist and DXSetup

 In the following location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Ashes of the Singularity Escalation\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2017

Run: vcredist_x64.exe ('Repair' option when prompted)

In the following location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Ashes of the Singularity Escalation\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010

Run: DXSetup.exe

Reboot and try to run the game again."

I have reinstalled the game and ran vcredist_x64.exe 'Repair' option and DXSetup.exe. I have now been able to play the game for almost an hour with no issues. Thank you.

And you found those here, yes?
