My picky SoC feedback thread.

I've played all the missions, I have had fun, but I see a ton of ways this game could be better and I believe if my feedback is taken into account and acted upon SoC will become one of the best TD games on the market.

I'm going to list my issues in the order that I can think of them and I may come back to this thread to add more posts as the game progresses.

1: The Interface isn't nice. The icons are too small and when you scale them up they become a blurry mess, the assets should be worked at 5k or 4k and scaled down instead of the other way.. The colours of the icons don't really relate to what the tower is or illustrate what it's purpose is particularly well.

2: The icons that pop up when an army is incoming are just placed North, South, etc. I want to know exactly where the drop zone is.

3: It's not clear what route armies are going to take. There should be holographic path markers because right now...

4: ...maps are just big pastel coloured blobs of mountains. They are utterly boring to look at. Big coloured confusing messes of bland. Geograpically the maps look like slightly upressed Command and Conquer maps.

5: While I remember the animation for the big spider units its one of the worst things I've ever seen. EVER. I do like the idea of neutral units though.

6: The behaviour / animation of the small tank units you can summon is horrendous. The overlap each other, move through each other, spin around ridiculously. They look awful and should just be replaced with hover units from ashes.

7: Tower placement is not clear or predictable. A gird system would be preferable, squares or hexes and perhaps a slight boost in the range of certain towers to compensate.

8: The slowdown when you upgrade your Nexus... yikes. Also the upgrade just looks... rubbish? Sorry but ornate structures in military settings is blehhhh.

9: Voice feedback is intermittent. 300% increase in spoken messages is needed. Particularly when air units are arriving.

10:  Not a great deal of feedback when units are taking damage besides the occasional shield. Shields don't look great either.

11:  When artillery strikes a bunch of units... they just die. The aren't catapulted around. They don't swerve off path. They just keep driving until they fade into the badly timed explosions.

12: Explosions and glare and most particle effects are still great, although the Corrosive Mortar... doesn't quite do it for me. The green trail looks like it comes from Risk of Rain. It's just pixel-y and bleh.

13: Dreadnoughts should never be able to overlap like they do at the end of the final mission. Seeing the big end game units like that is just... disappointing.

14: I'd like to know what's killed a unit. Instead of the same explosion, how about the unit just dropping down black if its been killed from railguns, or a green explosion if its from a corrosive mortar, or a red explosion from the particle cannon, etc etc.

15: What exactly are salvage stations salvaging? Everything fades away when it dies.

16: Music, interface, and most sound effects still sound like they come from the original alpha of Ashes. It all sounds low frequency and not clear enough.

I'll leave it here for now.

Good feedback! I especially like the idea of having holographic pathways. For the voice feedback not all of the lines are in yet or hooked up properly but there will be better notifications.

Salvage stations boost your eco by recycling metal from enemies killed in their radius.

Now I am thinking of the possibility of some kind of kill feed with metal values. Might be too messy though.

How about popping a number above the salvage station that floats up and fades away when it salvaged something (like a lot of games do with damage indicators).  I think that would clear up a lot of the confusion with the salvage station by making it clear that it is doing something.  You could also add a hover statistic on each salvage station that shows total recovered to this point.  That way players looking for a way to improve can decide whether or not salvage stations are a worthy investment.

Come to think of it, the floating resource numbers could be applied to everything (resource deposits mining, base producing resource over time, and salvage from salvage stations).  Could make increments colored green and decrements colored red (e.g. bought or upgraded a tower).  Overall this would give you a good idea of the flows of your economy simply by glancing.

Perhaps have a number pop up on each enemy when it dies like all the looter shooters do? I think what irks me most is there is no visual or mechanical feedback of any kind for the salvage process.

I dislike when games simply have things "happen," I prefer more stuff to be simulated.

Great feedback.  This last week's update (I think it's public) puts +'s when they're collecting resources.
