Unable to install GRM Mod

After setting up a new system, setup Steam and downloaded GC3. I'd setup this before on my prior system and it was all working.

I checked the mod checkbox, verified in the settings text file.

I copied everything where it is supposed to be, verified it is there, checked to ensure that the folders were the right ones (saved games save to the folder in my games, the latest update updated the games folder, etc - as in I got the right folders)

The factions ships don't load, the GRM mods do not load.  I've been trying for days (figured maybe the latest version would work, so I upgraded to the new GC3 update and downloaded the latest GRM mods today) - deleted the existing files (that weren't loading) and replaced them.  Still didn't work.

Checked the error log, and it tells me it couldn't load the files, but nothing actually useful (like where it was trying to load the files from) - the file names match and exist in the right spots.

I have no idea what next steps I should take to solve this as I've found I enjoy the game with this mod (and the population mod by another author, which I don't know if that will work now with the new version, but, if I can get this to work, I'll have to see)

Anything I could be forgetting, missing, etc - would be appreciated.

Did you download the 3.1 hotfix/opt in?

Because Retribution broke all modding/enabling of mods and only the hotfix allows it.

Where would I go to do that?  I've downloaded and updated via Steam to whatever is latest there.  On the menu screen, I'm on v3.5

Go to:

Steam, Library, Right Click GC3, Select "Downloadable content", select "Betas". Use dropdown menu to select the opt-in hot fix.

PS: Generally SD releases patches this way for long periods of time as "previews" for upcoming version. GRM is usually maintained for these.

I see it, but I need an access code.

I appreciate the help, but man, StarDock really screwed up, this frustrates me a lot.

You don't need a code. Just leave it blank.

Thanks! I'm in and the mods work (I clicked accept code and nothing happened, I didn't know I just needed to close it) - super appreciate it.

Other notes, my mercs are showing up blank images (and all stats are 000) - when I buy one, it replaces the picture and makes it so I can't buy it again - but - it doesn't subtract the funds or provide the merc to me.

Yeah no problem.

You installed GRM before the hotfix/patch most likely... therefore Steam replaced any files inside the Game's directory which is namely the Mercenary ship design files (and VERY ESPECIALLY the ship and object file zip files).

Just re-copy the "For your game directory" folder to your game directory ... err... folder lol. It will replace the two zips and re-insert the other files if needed.
