Artifacts

How often do the artifacts generate their rewards?  I've noticed one almost right away after built then another appeared later.  Or is it only after you upgrade the building?  Does this mean once fully upgraded that tile is worthless?  Why don't the tiles combine instead of adding duplicates upon duplicates?  I don't see the value on keeping the tiles separate.  You could just have it show you the planet(s) that is producing said artifact.

I would have asked the last question during beta, however, even though I was a founder and asked to be included on discord I was not included in the beta.

Edit:  Another question as I'm playing it appears many artifacts can be upgraded continually at the end of them, so answering my above question, giving the player additional charges, however, the Chimirac Biomass (which terriforms an additional tile) doesn't provide that option.  is this a bug (broken) or working as intended.  Maybe the others that allow continued upgrades are a bug but I wanted to make sure.

Same question here, how long does it take for artifact to recharge?  or is it one time thing.

They only recharge after they have been upgraded.

I suspect the duplication in the menu is simply because they are reporting per-planet. Hovering over them gives you some information, that if combined wouldn't be parsed well. I don't disagree that they should be combined, but it seems to be intentional design.

I believe the structures for artifacts provide adjacent bonuses, so that they are not useless, though, you may think they are less than ideal.

@Gauntlet I noticed that many of them you can build like a project after fully upgraded over an over again giving one continued bonus's, (which I like), however, some of them such as, Chimirac Biomass (which terriforms an additional tile) does not.  Trying to find out if that's a bug or if being able to continue to build them as a project is a bug.  I personally would love the continued use of them.

Edit: Another one is Arnor Embers Complex (Increases attack of selected fleet)

Additional thoughts on this is if they aren't meant to keep allowing use, then the artifact tile should just simply disappear after the artifact is maxed out.  No sense using up space on the artifact screen if they can't ever be re-used?

I get it. 

1) Infinitely being able to generate tiles or attack is likely not just unbalanced, but likely to cause bugs.

2) I think you can clear/destroy the artifacts can't you?

Yeah you can destroy them, my main question is, why allow it for some artifacts but not others.  And I don't think it's unbalanced as all players, including AI should be able to use them.  Solution: to your point making it broken though, is to have a counter on each upgrade, such as the first time costs x resources, next counter causes that to double, then next causes to double that ect... or just simply adding x resources times the number of counters used ect...  therefore it would keep getting more difficult to upgrading, allowing you to continue but, just keeps making it more expensive each time.

I would still like to see them do a pass on bazaar ships, as right now it's not worth purchasing the high end ships as by the time one gets to the level of unlocking them, one can build ships much more superior to them.  With the exception of some special ones.

Well, for what it is worth, my mod greatly improves the Mercs by fixing their roles, semi-standardizing their engines, defenses, and weapons (and definitely increasing them)... I need to do a new balance pass myself though, as I think they might be too powerful now with their defenses.

I understand a lot of this most likely could be modded, however, the base game, without mods, shouldn't require mods to be balanced or work uniform throughout.  With that being said I do appreciate your suggestion.  Any @stardock person able to answer the question about artifacts?  Maybe I'll just post it on discord.
