Galactic Civilizations III. 3.5 Hotpatch (Released 3/4)

Hello,

We have a hot patch for 3.5, largely focused on fixing problems in the new tech trees as well as restoring mod functionality.  Read below for details.

Change Log

  • Mods now load properly.
  • Fixed an issue keeping players from researching the "Hyperfield Projection" tree
  • Ancient factions can now research "Inherent Talent"
  • Ancient factions can now research the "Precursor Tradition" tree
  • Devout factions can now research "The Path" tree
  • Intuitive factions can now research  the "Xeno Anthropology" tree
  • Scavenger factions can now research the "Recovery" tree
  • Vigilant factions can now research the "Stellar Forge" tree
  • Knowledgeable factions can now research the "Gravitonics" tree
  • Removed non-working Durantium costs on hull sizes (no actual impact since they weren't working anyway)
  • Re-assigned some ship classes to have the appropriate strategic icon (bombers now have bomber icons) which will sort them into their right category for the ship style set builder.
  • Fixing a bug where repeatedly saving and loading games within a single game session would increase the save game sizes.  Fix is not retroactive.
  • Fix for custom citizen images and flavor text not showing up.
  • Changed Tourism adjacency on the Consulate bonus to 200% from 2%.
  • Removed references to the "Trade Capital" in the tech tree because the improvement was removed from the game.
  • Fixed issues that prevented Synthetics from accessing advanced Trading techs
  • Nebula movement penalty costs work properly again
  • Train Celebrities now requires Cultural Beacon, not Diplomatic Corp
  • Added alternate trigger to end mission 1 the Korath colonize Yiven III.
  • You can no longer place Bazaars in the map editor if you don't own Mercenaries Expansion Pack
  • Fixed typos in the campaign
  • Fixed a couple of MP crashes
  • Synthetic, and Silicon-based life forms no longer get the Disease event because machines don't get sick.  They just get angry.

Thanks for the quick reply, but... the hotfix is cold : it doesn't work! I've done what is said : put beta, restart computer and steam, restart Galciv and have make a test. I still got 600 % with consulate on a tourism adjacency bonus hex! I'm rich!!!! But the game is still unplayable... Have I done something wrong?

Did you start a new game?

Patch is live now.  Enjoy.

I noticed too that my enemy is using my hypergates in my own territory! Tell me that's a bug.

I noticed yesterday that fast ships still skip explored spaces. At least the ones that are custom made with lost treasures. Hypergate drive, and slip stream drive.

Silicon needs the terriforming, and extreme world's... Back. The media assimilation is missing.

I noticed these aren't on your list of fixes.

It is no gate where you start from the gate and get to the gate.. you can enter the "high way" at any point and you can leave it at any point. so it would make sense you could use it, even when its not yours.

Would have prefered an instant gate travel like a wormhole.

Does that mean I have to disable the opt in update again?

Live and optin are the same right now.  I would recommend switching to live though so that you're not caught off guard next time we update the optin.

Thank you for the info. Could the live update be applied to an existing game? (I was halfway through a game before the billionaire maker consulate/tourism bug came up)

I've tried the hotfix and have restarted/loaded the saved game and the error persists.

Patch is live now.  Enjoy.

Thanks! Is it advisable to start a new game with this particular patch (from a game started from the previous version) or can we continue on with our current one?

Unfortunately, you need a new game to get the latest data and balance changes.

Intuitive perk is still busted

I guess steam wasn't giving me the update? Neither when I was on beta nor when I reverted did I see this working, but I did a reinstall after removing local files. After that it seemed to work fine.  *shrug*

Is there any possibility to force a saved game to use current data?

My colonies don't come full of people and factories when I colonize.

Oh wait, I guess that is not a bug.  Just a wish.

Silicon and Synthetic races need to go past Planetology in research. They currently don't.

@PreviousPoster ^^^ The issue you're talking about w Planetology etc has been reported in the support forum and Mormegil reported it as fixed.

Q:  Any chance of a (small) bug fix build soon™?

I'm currently playing a custom silicon, and I cant get past planetology. Just started a new game. No extreme colonization, or aptnospheric cleansing. The problem is still there.

Admiral, it has been fixed but not released. That’s why my post asked if a bug fix build would be possible.  Since it is now Saturday I assume the answer is no =/

Hi Pshaw, I am answering to your question (reply 26, March 4, 2019 9:07:36) about my bug. Yes, I started a new game, but the bug was always there. Now the problem is solved. Thank you very much.

Hi Pshaw,

I am answering to your question (reply 26, March 4, 2019 9:07:36) about my bug. Yes, I started a new game, but the bug was always there. I have not tried again. I'll try soon. But, if I understand well, there is a new patch today : where can i find this patch?

Thanks again.

Patch downloads automatically, unless you changed your Steam settings, through Steam.

Somebody forgot to fix the God-awful planetary auto-upgrade button. I still have to untick that option on every new planet! Arghhh! Please give us a global option in settings; those who want it on can have it that way. And I can disable it everywhere because I hate it :-)

Agreed. The Civilization panel has room for a whole tab that could hold some global options for colonies and choice-techs, e.g. Precursor Mysteries. I often like to work several steps down a branch in one run and strongly favor miniaturization in the warfare tree. Being able to choose my own default for the choice-techs would save clicks and research points.

I use STEAM as my game portal. My game has not updated to 3.6 nor has it incorporated the new Retribution DLC. Ideas?

Unfortunately, no.  The data is baked into the save.  We do this to minimize headaches between updates.

A few ideas for you:

  • Have you restarted steam recently?
  • Are you on a beta branch?
  • Validate your files

Let me know if you are able to get up and running again.
