Why Terror Stars MUST make a return

Because it'd be a shame if we couldn't do THIS anymore:

It took a full 10 turns to build something that my regular fleets could do in one or two turns. It never made sense to build these things.

Vanity. Obvs.

lol I wouldn't mind them making a return.

Build them next to the star, and use them as your initial declaration of war, protect them with Dreadnoughts until they're ready, problem solved.

They had several advantages over normal planetary conquest.  The planets destroyed couldn't be reconquered, it created more asteroids to mine, and you could use range limitations against your enemy by creating buffer zones.  Not to mention that by using them as your method of declaring war you could wipe out large chunks of them quickly.

They already exist.

It is sad how many people have neglected to look at citizen promotions or even payed attention to dev journals and patch notes.

They even named it really cool, reminds me of the Dalek's.....EXTERMINATor.

There's about 1000 dev journals, but if they RE already back, that's awesome.  I'm actually waiting until after Retribution is released to get Gal Civ 2, cus as I understood it, Brad wasn't done with the AI yet as late as post-Intrigue.  But if Terror Stars really are back, it makes this all the more exciting.

Nice, in that case, I'm all the more excited that I already was.

This, I can't find ANY details on it.  I've tried both google searches and searches of the forums.

Commander - Malevolant. Cost 10 Promethion and 1 Artocarpus Viriles.

Edit:

They are slow, not very well armed and have no defense, so require an escort or 5.

Can they move more than 1 space this time?  Cus if I can only build ONE every 10 turns it'd limit their usefulness (long story short, a scenerio like the above video, probably won't happen using citizens).

I'm used to defending them with Dreadnaughts GC2, so the escort thing wouldn't be an issue.

Base of 7 moves (3+2 engines), you got tech, abilities, buffs etc on top.

Nice, so I can't build as many, but what I can build is more useful, can't wait.

FYI its a player only thing. (AI can not or will not use Commanders)

If they do happen to use one its a fluke, I have tested and tested this by gifting free commaders to the AI, its a waste. (they sit in the global pool buffing hitpoints by 3% each)

AI never built terror stars in GC2 either.

I wonder if one of the things Brad was wanting to work on for the AI had anything to do with this, I may ask him on twitter.

So I can not find the info I remember been shared by one of the devs (it was probably on Discord and I am not scolling through that massive log), however I did come across this on the offical wiki (its incomplete): Citizens and thier Promotions

EDIT:

I updated the Commander promotion information on the wiki.

I would like to see proper Terror Stars too. One of my favorite features of GalCiv2.
