Additional features

qttabbar

http://qttabbar.sourceforge.net

Hello,

I like groupy and the possibility to group windows and have tabs, it is great.

Also that i can group different windows not just the explorer.

Several years before (win 7) I used qttabbar (original one).

As it is discontinued I searched for new software and came to groupy.

There are still some features that I miss from qttabbar, like double click do move folder up, favourites, preview and so on.

I think you are aware of qttabbar, nevertheless i wanted to mention it, so maybe some of its features could be integrated in groupy.

There was also a different branch of qttbarbar by Quizo who had more new features (but sometimes a little bit unstable).

Haven't used this one for win 7 but the old one from the link (think 1.5 beta 2).

I like groupy, especially it works like a charm for me.

Best regards

Yes there's so many features missing in groupy, my best feature from "qttabbar and Clover 🍀" is to open new tab by clicking middle mouse button in any folder, I suggested this feature but they don't implement this best time saving feature it's been a year and they still don't work on this. Please implement this feature in groupy Stardock Developers.

QTTabBar - the real one - luckily isn't discontinued yet. Quizo has a tendency to disappear for long stretches of time, but he released an update back in october this year.

I use both QTTabBar and Groupy, without a problem. Clicking on Groupy's + button, automatically opens a new QTTabBar (cloned) tab.

I'm a long-time fan of Clover too, but sadly it seems to be very buggy on the latest Win10, which is why I'm trying Groupy as one possible alternative. Two things I'm missing the most are...

  • The ability to middle-click a tab to close it (this is how most browsers behave)
  • Under certain circumstances, allow the user the option to switch through tabs using Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab (something that should of off by default, or confined to Explorer and Cmd.exe because those keys are likely to be used by other programs).

Can you enhance the ability to ungroup a tab - currently you have to press Shift. I would like the ability to decouple a tab like in Chrome / Clover - by clicking and dragging out of the group without having to hold a key. Can this feature be added to the options as a selectable configuration.

Middle click to close is already an option in Groupy.  See the bottom of the settings page.
