Win 10 1809 Administrative tools...there ain't none!

See...more stupid stuff

Never have I ever seen this. I went looking for disk cleaner. Imagine my surprise when I saw an empty folder. :O  Went online looking for a solution and was given three different ways to access them. From control panel, settings and going to all apps and windows administrative tools only to find that folder empty as well. You can't access what isn't there to access. What kind of a clusterf**k is this!?

Only reason why this second post is because Opera, on the yahoo site at least, blacks out and freezes. Every time I scroll down the busy icon comes up and it goes black. I thought it was that particular version s I updated it, no difference. Then I thought to use Edge to see if the same thing happens. Nope...it does something completely different. The page disappears leaving only the frame around it. I tried for a screenie three times but no go. Then it closes. Just like that, gone. I'm really getting tired of this shit!

was it a fresh  install of 1809 or update to 1809.

I can't reproduce the issue on either scenario.

Not in mine for some reason. Why...I'm not even going there. I found my own solution. Typed cleanmgr.exe in search and right clicked on it and opened file location, system32. I found the ones I want and sent them as shortcuts to my screen. Next I opened control panel and the admin tools folder then moved those shortcuts into the folder. Done! I ain't playin' these games no more.

I have not experienced any missing components since my upgrade to 1809. I think you must be a part of the few isolated bugs!

Since the other thread is closed I get to post my results from the clean boot here. Its been an interesting adventure to say the least. I'm using the new admin account now. My old one I tried going back to was a nightmare. Nothing wanted to work right. Opera, which I do not have any more, was freezing up going black then closing. Tried updating it and same thing. I switched over to edge. It opens slightly faster and stays open all of thirty seconds and closes on its own. I tried numerous times with the same results. In this new admin account I went to user accounts and deleted my old one. It created a folder with my name on it in the users folder. Fine, I expected that. Accessing the folder however said I need permission to access it. I click continue and it freezes. Its not that big a deal. I just lose whatever was in my download folder among other things I'll need to collect again. As long as this is stable the way it is I'm not messing with it any more. WB 10.74 is working and there is a slight gain in performance. I even managed to install the latest update for 1809 and it actually worked the first time. I have the apps I want in the admin tools folder and I rebuilt my screen so to speak. Got my drawers back and nearly everything else. Now lets see if it stays that way and oh...one more thing. Edge sucks because I Tried using it to get Chrome and it closes after a few seconds. I got Chrome using IE, which exhibited no problems. Go figure.

I need permission to access it

Can you not change the security on the folder? (Rightclick, properties, security tab, etc)

To be honest I haven't even thought about it. I've been too busy interviewing browsers. Chrome will not work, period. I installed two new ones, I refuse to use IE. The first is Firefox. Surprisingly its stable and quick unlike the last time it didn't want to play nice for some reason. The other is Vivaldi, which I'm using to post this. I have not encountered any problems with them thus far. As for the other thing...I'm workin' on it. PITA this...

Just download the Media Creation Tool for 1809 from Microsoft Ross, use it to reinstall 1809 keeping all your current files and info, it may fix things.
