Yor population growth

How to grow Yor after version 3.0

I don't play Yor.  In order to complete the Yor achievements I tried them out for the first time.  I build a couple of colony vessels and then I run into a problem with deploying them; not enough population.  I search every wiki page and every forum post and they all say to build a "Fast Assembly" in order to build more population.  After over an hour of solid searching I start running through the patch updates, because I know at some point this changed but I cannot find out what when or where.

Long story short because I never research "green" tech until late in the game when I need to add more planetary tiles I never researched "Propagation" and never unlocked the "Manufacture Population" planetary build project.

It seems silly now.  Everyone else seems to research the first tech in that tree, but I always wait.  The wiki REALLY needs an update.

Posting this here so it will show up in a search when other people have the same problem I had.

Yor should not bother building pop.   Just take it.   Why waste all those resources when organics are growing pop for you?   When a synthetic race takes over a planet with non-synth pops,  they get converted for free.

The devs have given no indication that they see this as a problem,   so the strategy will probably be good for a while,  at least.

Organic assimilation into synthetics is great for later when you have transports and can capture planets.

I like to rush colony ships and capture planets early.  I even go so far as to park warships outside A.I. shipyards to kill colony ships and constructors to keep them weak.

Everyone has their own favorite flavor of cheese. :D

We are the Yor. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

You should play super aggressive with the Yor race, tbh.

I just fired up a game of v3.1 as the Yor.  I need both durantium and Prometheon just to grow population now? Where am I supposed to get these in a galaxy with poor resources? Basically I can colonize 2 or 3 worlds and then that’s it. I’m stuck. I have no population growth and no means to get any.

Am I missing something?

Yes, as Yor if you can't find enough durantium and promethion you're out of luck.  That's why I use ScrivenerOfLight's mod called Resource Mission Mod.  It allows you to research three new techs that then allow you to send out missions from your shipyards to gather more resources. https://www.nexusmods.com/galacticcivilizations3/mods/109

I’ve been playing synthetics for awhile and I believe they are currently the strongest. Even with the slow start if managed properly you will dominate. I will say this though no matter your ideological leanings you should start good. Get the first full colony ship park it on your home. Leave with the minimum population and scout stick close to home and hope events happen quick. Pick the next one in the three and hopefully that new class ten will be in your home system or close by. At this time you need colonize and pick another benevolent ideology so unless it is so awful you have to pass it up. Once you colonize with 3 pop colonize let a boss until time to focus on the midgame. Yor / synthetics are best with a certain start. Make sure to get mining Starbases and set your taxes to 100% machines don’t get mad they get muderous. You’ll be stomping organics into the ground soon enough. Yes the AI is abysmal at growing pop especially on synthetics but in the hands of a human the machines become unstoppable.

Stealing the population from other races is also effective but usually by the time I start a war I have the highest population in the game as synthetic. Just remember if you gonna get got you gonna lose in the first 120 turns AI usually is a goner after that it simply can’t keep up. Making 20k a turn several tech levels above the AI and stomping their pathetic ship mass with medium fleets.
