Thought I'd try Deskscapes but after the install and applying one of the images all I got was a gray screen. Tried another image, same thing.

Sorry to hear you are having issues.
What version of windows and deskscapes are you running ?
Did you try at 1920x1080 resolution ?

Deskscapes v 8.51... and no I didn't. My resolution is 1366 x 768. I checked around and found the auto-detect but it didn't seem to do anything.
Next question......was I supposed to reboot after the install?

Yes first Reboot .. and check ..

Reboot and ReInstall 8.51 ....
I run that ver. of Windows and Deskscapes and no problems.
It's best to always REBOOT after these fixes and installs.

Did the purge...installed Deskscapes and rebooted...seems to be working.
