Help. Having an odd problem

No mouse pointer irratic cursor movement

Hello

I'm new to the forum so take it easy on me.  I'm having an odd problem .I'm currently playing star conttol origin via steam link and with a Xbox 360 controller with mouse and keyboard support as secondary.  I have no problem.loading the game but there isn't a mouse pointer on screen and aslo the cursor movement seems like it stuck on a key so I'm fighting to highlight and navigating through the menus.  Here are some things I boticed

- it's not specifically locked to one particular movement or let binding.

- I'll be navigating via cursor key or game pad (which I'm able to... Barely), either it moves in different direction or high light disappears.  It's like abother key is rolling over and it's a fight on who wins.

- Seems like I do have mouse movement but no pointer on screen.  I can move the mouse around and it will randomly highlight option to click on.

- on the Galaxy map of the planets, I'm moving back and forth because it doesn't stop (like it's ghosting).  Auto Ooms in and can't zoom out.

- Combat doesn't seem to be effective that I know of.  I suck so I can't see any problems there.  No auto rotating problems or using primary and secondary attacks.

- checked my steam box and nothing on my keyboard so no key stuck on a specific command.

- Feels like the mouse is taken over and the cursor disappears and have to try again.

- scrolling through the objectives and logs is impossible.  I scroll using arrow/game pad and it jump back like someone pressed page up or home.

Overall it feels like a ghost has taken over and trolling me.  I'm already have a hard time with the game ( challenging) and don't need an additional handicap.

Let me know if anything else is needed from me.  Thanks

PS - Love the game but need a few tweaks to make it much more enjoyable. (Ie. Module changes on the fly instead of going to a starbase)

Thanks

Sorry to hear you are having issues with the game. What you are describing almost sounds like input "lag" with the controller and Steam Link connection. I have a couple questions about your experience:

1. When connecting the controller directly to the PC do you have any issues?
2. When you play other games with the Steam Link and controller do you notice any issues?

We're glad to hear you are enjoying the game and will try to help you get your issue sorted out.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.  I don't have any problems using the controller directly in the PC.  It's an Xbox 360 but I'll try a gamesir 4gs and see what happens on steam link and PC since it's been awhile since I used that controller.  As for other game. I haven't had any issues. Only SCO and it started when I first launch the game.

I haven't tried playing SCO directly on my PC.  I'll try that without steam link.

Also, do you think haven't no mouse directly plugged into the PC but have one on steam link cause SCO to get confused?  I moved it since I mainly now a couch gamer.  More comfy than sitting at my desk ;)

Thanks

I figured it out.  Usually Steam link will emulate keyboard and mouse even if the host computer does not have one connected.  The game started to work after I attached my mouse back in the steam box.

I guess the mouse inputs weren't being either recognised or misinterpreted by SCO as if the box doesn't have a mouse but inputs from the steam link client is sending them.

Im not fighting with cursor movements, random movement which causes irratic movements and have a mouse pointer too.  I'll keep an eye on it but I think it'd solved.

Damn, I should be a software tester. Lol

Thanks for the moral support Stardock. ;)

I'm happy to see you figured it out. That's something I'll be sure to keep an eye out for in the future. :D
