It'd be nice if the landers were not quite so sensitive to the terrain , I am constantly flipping my lander and it seems like I'm fighting the terrain, Gem worlds are incredibly beautiful but crap to navigate, jump doesn't work most of the time because of gaps or cracks in the terrain. The weather , toxicity, and heat are enough of a battle fighting the terrain itself in the face of grinding resources is too much.

I  already heard from friends who play who are bailing on the game because they just won't collect resources or will not experience the incredible textures of gem worlds because if the terrain looks rough they won't land.

I love this game and I am obsessively mining worlds and enjoying it so far, except this point

Trying to get across canyons using only boost (shift key) without jump (spacebar), that is actually mostly possible but hard.  But if you buy the Anti-Gravity Thrusters lander module on the flagship, which you activate by pressing spacebar when flying the lander sure you can't jump over mountains sometimes but I am always able to jump over cracks.  I have been to worlds with deep canyons and rainbow worlds and been fine, although maybe not Gem worlds.

 

Are you saying that Gem worlds have so many cracks that even though you can jump over the cracks you have trouble not landing on a crack?

 

Please encourage your friends to buy the Anti-Gravity Thrusters module if they haven't.

Have been using the anti grav, just saying sometimes I hit jump and it won't jump on especially rough terrain, and yes sometimes land in cracks, I got stuck on an emerald world for a full 5 count nose down in a crack that was not big enough for the lander, I'm not too far into the game I'm hoping there are more upgrades like the antigrav thrusters to make travel a little easier. The anti grav does give you more airtime when you jump combined with thrusters makes it easier to gain ground, but check out a few gem worlds you'll see what I mean, alot of shear edges on higher terrain and lots of crevices .

Also there is a bug. If you're not releasing boost or jump button when lander boost battery depleted, you won't boost/jump (obviously) but the battery won't recharge until a boost/jump button is released.
