Star Control: Planet Brainstorming Thread!

Star Control: Planet Brainstorming Thread!

With the release of Star Control: Origins is at the beginning of its journey as we have many years of expansions planned.

We are taking notes on what things players would like to see added over time.

First up: Planets.

Please share your suggestions, ideas or requests for things you believe people would enjoy doing on planets for future expansions.

Examples (brainstorming): Air combat. (You bring aircraft with you) Invading Cities (You bring troop transports with you to invade)

Just remember: YOU are the Captain. Star Control: Origins is an adventure/RPG game, not a strategy game. :)

We are listening. :)

Quoting Razordreamz,

Would be interesting if you could stun a critter on one planet and take it and introduce it to another planet. Bring a few and can maybe have them populate. Would make for some interesting quests where you can scare a race into giving you something you want. (think Tribbles from Star Trek)

Have a few planets where the surface is covered in ruins, like driving through a wrecked city.

More along the line of how you do things in Spore, which I REALLY like.  I wish they polished up the end game in that game (though I have not tried galactic adventures).  We could stand ot have some of these elements in Star Control.  It was really fun.

spore needed polishing in every stage. Not just the space stage. The only thing it did right is cosmetically build ships, planes, and space ships. Lack of customisability in the area, even ruined this.

I won't lie, I did wish that I had a Space Balls style vacuum to suck up all the resources from a planet...just imagining it, would be so epic and hilarious.

Another thing, orbital bombardment of drones/towers would be nice. Kind of gets old dealing with those.

The ruins of Scryve civilian colonies bombarded by Xraki made me think there should be a side quest.   When the Scryve military withdraw from nearby systems fleeing the Xraki and abandoning their civilians.   Star Control could intercept a distress call, choose to defend the Scryve colonies in those sectors and perhaps this way get some Civilian Scryves allied with us.   Getting access to their networks or some of their ship's schematics (perhaps not the military ones but the civilian ones which are still armed).

Rescuing those civilian colonies could start off a civil war within the Scryve.
