I Keep Finding Random Items

from StarControl Forums

Anyone have any idea what the random items you can find on various planets or in orbit are for (ie unbreakable mirror, crashed tesla, caged alien pet, metallic egg)? 

 

You can't seem to sell them, and I have no idea if they're part of quests I'm missing or if they're just junk you can collect.

As far as I have yet determined, most of them are useless, but one or two are useful for quests.  I suspect that the rest are either simply Easter Egg references or might be setups for future DLC/expansions.  At least they don't take up space on the Vindicator.
