Crash on load game

Star Control crashes on load game.  I have tried every fix on your tech support game, including uninstalling and reinstalling the game.  I have 11 hours of playtime, and now I can no longer load a game at all.  I attempted to start a new game, and it crashes upon saving the game.  I really had looked forward to having a new Star Control game to play this weekend and I'm very disappointed in Star Dock that a bug of this magnitude went out the door on release.   I've combed the Steam forums and I am not the only person who has this problem.
