I have done all you have asked followed your list

 

it still does not work

 

I bought Strange Brigade last week and it runs without a hitch or having to follow a list that frankly needs a tech savvy person to follow

 

Fix this or give me a refund!

Hello Willag_mac,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

We are investigating a rare crash on some systems using NVIDIA display drivers (which you have).  If you receive this error, restarting the game usually resolves the issue. In the rare event that restarting doesn’t address the issue, playing the game at 1920x1080 resolution or lower graphics settings may provide a temporary solution

Hi Sean this does not solve the problem.

 

the game is very twitch when I land on tree covered worlds it only lasts about 1m  in space it appears stable and even on barren asteroids.

 

I have installed windows 10 to see if this was the issue but I am still plagued with crashes.

 

I am still one very unhappy customer!

Totally understandable, Willag_mac.  We are also eagerly awaiting the results of working with NVidia to resolve the issue. 

In its stead, lower settings has seen many lessen the issue's frequency and impact.

same problems here... first 3 to 4 hours of gameplay worked fine... but then the freezing / and crashing startet.

as soon as iam on a planet wich is not rock-like and small it seems i have  just 10 to 60 sec and ill get a frozen screen (sound is ongoing, vehicle can be moved, if i press [ESC] i hear the launch sound from the lander and then CTD...

(only appears on planets with a lot animals or trees or if they are the "bigger kind of planet" (espiacially planetswith alian [to talk with]).

i ded EVERYTHING and then, i completely set up my PC... that means, i formatet my C drive, deleted EVERYTHING and fresh installed my WIN 10, and steam (and necessaries).

i really did not want to do that in my vacation... but well, it was worth a shot.

 

sooo FINALLY i startet the gamegame, loaded save, 15 sec on planet and a freez again... well great...

 

ill just stop playing here, and wait for a hotfix or a larger update, i have wasted like aslmost 20 hours to track this problem... and iam done with it, i just cant continue like that anymore... :(

 

maybe someone has a solution already.

or maybe someone will find one and post it here.

Sorry to hear about the frustration (we share it).  Can you tell me if this helps:

Download the following settings.ini file:

https://cdn.stardock.us/support/uploads/settings.zip

Unzip that to:

\Documents\My Games\Star Control

and try to run the game again.

Thanks, i already have done this, wit the following resolutions 1080x1920 and 2 lower settings (cant go lower will get eye cancer). dosnt work for me either.

 

if you are interested im my PC specs, they are:

 

intel core i7 4770 3.40 GHz

32 GB ram DDR 4

Geforce GTX 680

samsung ssd 840 PRO series 1 tb with OS and game

 

so iam pretty sure it not the hardware.

The SwapChain error you are getting is a result of the current NVidia driver - which we are working with them on.  The settings changes are to help mitigate the issue.

I would be interested to see if disabling VSync helped any further.

If you have trouble loading the game even to that point, you can edit it in your settings.ini (notepad) here:

\Documents\My Games\Star Control

vSyncEnabled = 0

due to forum post restrictions, i could not answer until now.

 

i used the settings like above, sadly i still get the freez-crashes while iam in the "lander interactions".

 

i really dont know what to do anymore.

 

the new nvidia treiber from the 27.09.2018 seems not to fix the problem either.

The email address associated with your forum userName does not appear to be the one you are using when you submit via the in-game pop-up crash reporter (I find no entries for it).

That said, if you open your runlog.txt from

\My Games\Star Control

and see 'SwapChain' errors, we are still waiting for the work with NVidia to provide relief for the issue.  If you do see that there, the lower settings files is to make it less frequent / severe.

Mine was crashing quite a bit, I'll have to go look and see if it's the same issue. I do run an Nvidia card and am using the latest drivers.
