Is it Just Me, or Are the "Guided Missiles" Not Very Guided?

So, I keep reading the descriptions of the missile primary weapons for the flagship, and they mentioned being "guided."  Mine, though, seem to always be guided in a straight line.  Am I doing something wrong?  Or is "guided" a kinda overstatement on their abilities?

Did you stop at the Ceres base to get the upgrade? There are later upgrades that get smarter.

My missiles have a little guidance. But only around maybe 5% deviation of straight path

ive got the third tier nukes that are supposed to have deadly homing and  mine still dont track more than 5 degrees from straight its an exaggeration the description
