UI freeze on sector map

The whole UI is freezing on the sector map when i search for the alien system from the quest.  I type 3 letters, then *bam* lockup.  Music playing in the background, but nothing gets out except killing the process.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

I would like to make sure it is not actually a video (driver) issue first.  There is some help here for that (and other things to try) here:
