"Your save game does not match the hosts"

I've looked online and can't find a fix.

Whenever I try to play online with my friend (Neither of us own DLC or have mods active) we get an error when loading a save after taking a small break mid-game. The error is in the title. I can't seem to find any solution. Please help.
