Trouble modding Planetary Improvements

Hi,

I've been trying to make a few tweaks to planetary improvement stats, but none of my changes to improvementdefs ever appear in game, even though alterations to other files will.

Does anyone know what could be the problem? (this is on Intrigue btw)

Thanks all.

How do you expect some one to know what the problem is with: "I've been trying to make a few tweaks to planetary improvement stats, but none of my changes to improvementdefs ever appear in game, even though alterations to other files will." ?

No explination of what you changed, no code posted so we can see what was changed. No info on how your modding. No info on what version you modding. Basicly no information what so ever.

I changed this, doesnt work. Help. sigh.

Ok, first off that was an unnecessarily nasty and hostile response.

All I have been doing is really simple stuff like substituting a few numerical values. I did it in the mod directory, and when the changes didn't appear I tried doing it to the actual game files. Similar changes to other files, done the same way appear without any problems. Honestly, I don't see that pasting a bunch of XML proving that I changed a 4 into a 5 will make a stick of difference to the answer.

I told you it was in Intrigue so you do know the version.

I assume the issue is just that Intrigue pulls data for improvements from a different location and I am just hoping someone was aware of the issue and could point me at it.

I don't need you assuming I want anything more than that and then abusing me for not giving you information that's isn't pertinent to what I'm asking.

Did you start a new game after changing the XMLs?

The Mod location for Intrigue is still "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\GC3Crusade\Mods". I accidentally left my old Crusade mods there and they worked under Intrigue ;)

What @lyssailcor said is correct.  Your changes need to go into the mods folder, and you need to start a new game to see them.  When a game is started all the XML is saved in the saved games, so changes aren't seen until you start a new game.

It is in the mods folder. Changes to ShipComponentDefs.xml and a few others are all working as they should. It's just the planetary improvements that aren't changing, even though they are in the same folder with the ones that are. I have restarted the game multiple times, heck I even tried rebooting the whole computer by still no dice.

What he is trying to say, is that changing the XML files will not make any changes is a game you are already playing, i.e. if you are loading a saved game you will NOT see any changes.

You must create a new game to see changes, this needs to be done every time you make a change.

Also, are you using other mods that modify the same file, that can have the game to ignore one or the other.

Just created a new improvement, it showed up in-game.

Then went back, changed the adjacency bonuses and the changes showed up in the new game I created.
